If you are extremely manly you can shred on a Les Paul. You do notice very few shred guys ever played Les Pauls? I would imagine they were aware of them yet somehow none of them ever picked them up. :D

I thought Les Paul's were built for tone danyeo. Which is it now? :D

Both :D There's a reason that LP's are considered the best rock guitar. Of course it doesn't have to say Gibson on the headstock though. After playing Suhr's, Andersons, Charvel's, etc, the only advantage i see is slightly better upper fret access because i never thought i played better on the Superstrats.

And i feel that most of the shred guys weren't playing LP's because of Eddie Van Halen. He was soo popular that everyone wanted a superstrat to emulate him. Randy played LP's but i don't think he was as popular as Eddie.

Slightly better access? Tad of an understatement heh?

.

On a regular Charvel i don't feel the access is really that much better. The Suhr's of the world with the sculpted heel are a different story. At least, i don't think it's really as much an issue as you make it out to be. It never seemed to bother guys like Sykes or Schon from tearing it up.

Best access superstrat I have is a hamer diablo, big lower horn cutaway and you have stupid access.

Schon played Aria Pro LPs and now plays the new axxess :D

Cause they needed the wanker bars....and the notes whizzed by so fast they had no need for tone. Once they got old and slow, they needed actual tone instead of the garbage wood wank-o-casters.

This vid is pretty funny
