So I'm looking for another amp. Really like my 5153, but would like something a little thicker and chewier. Probably gonna need to go used, as I'd like to keep it to $1500 or less. What do you guys suggest? I play hard rock. Think AIC and VH had a love child. Lol.

Boosted Jubilee..Suhr Riot, Fulltone, etc. A quality boost and the EQ on these are very tweakable..meaning they actually work like a real EQ. That's the beauty of the Jub..factory modded Marshall. I boost my 2554(combo, you can get em for 1k now!) and I A/B with my Cameron or just about any modded Marshall I've had and it stays right there with it..and they're an investment.

Rockerverb is a good call. Carvin legacy might be worth checking out, as well as your fave flavor Splawn.

I've owned both Orange and EVH, but at different times. As I remember it, I didn't really think the Rockerverb was a thicker sound than 5153. I'd agree with the Uberschall recommendation. Definitely thick. It's not usually the first thing you think of as tight, but it can actually get there if you crank the presence and mids.

I was trying to find a pic of an overly tanned 13 year old but I realized it's on the computer the Fed's seized

I had a 5153 for a year. I'm thinking the Bogner Red pedal may work. You can try it for 30 days and see. I love my Red pedal. It is right up there with the Triple Wreck as being a pedal that is very amp like. It has a great sort of chewey spongy gain with the gain knob at 20% or so. Superb for leads that are lower gain and dynamic vs. high gain and compressed. Of course the higher gain side is great. The pedal surprised me how well it goes with a Strat for that fat bounce and CU24 for the more clean bite.

Best pedal I have found in years. From the vids of yours that are not over the top gained out, it seems like it could fit. Some good Hotel California as well as Nutshell in that pedal.

First two amps that came to mind were 20th Ecstasy and Twin Jet. Maybe a Friedman Naked.

You might try the 5153 head into a cab loaded with WGS Retro 30 speakers. I usually run my 5153 into the matching cab, but sometimes into an old Peavey cab loaded with the Retro's. Of all speakers, the Retro is hands down my favorite. Really thick and chewy tone from any head I've pummeled it with. The heads continue to have their own unique sound, just the Retro adds some goodness to the sound.

101b blue channel defined "Chewy and Thick."
I thought of that also but he said around $1500 :aww:

My rev blue was very AIC on ch 2 and ch 1 shiva clean and tight with a built in boost but it was mod'd by Cameron

That is why I was saying try a Bogner Ecstacy Red pedal. 30 days to decide and it sounds damn good. For somebody that already has a solid clean channel amp, like the 5153, and can play from the many vids, the Red would sound smokin and leave plenty of cash for midget hookers.

Word...

Go play a show with your 5150 and save your money. I rarely play my live rig at home and just play through a roland cube practice amp and when I start gassing, I just plug in and it goes away ;) I got back from a 4-set show 20 minutes ago and the 5150 III 50 watt was just killing it all night, including VH songs. The sound man was tripping over himself complementing me on my tone

Uber, Mesa Roadster or Orange might be what you are looking for.

I over looked the tight part. Might want to pass over the Mesa it needs a boost to tighten it up.
