Got this body on Ebay the other day for $89.

It's got dings and stuff, but who cares! It's character! LOL! :D
It's in pretty good condition for a 20 year old body.
Gonna throw a Musikraft San Dimas neck on it.

Just an update... In a fit of boredom or insanity, I decided to refinish this body. Well... I had no idea what a pain in the ass stripping Polyesther/Polyurethane would be! OMG! FUCK! Anyway... after a week of sanding (FUCK!) I got down to the wood and realized... this body was finished in a solid color for a reason! LOL! :D

Anyway, today I sprayed some primer coats... tomorrow I will sand it.

Color suggestions? I was thinking either purple or orange

Here's a pic so far.. exciting.. I know... :D

Now...
What pickup to get?
Custom 5?
Blues Trembucker?
Distortion?
None of the above?

I think the body is supposed to be basswood, but it feels more like alder weight-wise.

Nice!

Custom 5 if it's basswood

Custom Custom if it's alder

So hard to tell by the wood in the neck pocket. Looks more like basswood.

Ive used all of those pickups and every one of them kicks ass.
If you want the PAF vibe or if you are using a heavy midrange amp both the Blues and C5 have a bit of scoop to them. If you want more mids the distortion would be the way to go. I have all of these pickups loaded in various guitars.

I'm really digging the Rio Grande BBQ - that is one fat pickup!

Hmm... I may need some scoopage... all my amps have the Marshall mids... :D
SL, Splawn, XTC. Mids out the ass!

If that is a Model series body, it will be basswood and have a 2-1/4" neck pocket.

Yeah it's a model 2. The guys on the JCF forum say the same thing.
The neck is 2 1/4" I just measured it.

You can't go wrong with a bit of scoop if you have a heavy midrange amp. Most people don't realize that the original PAF's had a scoop to the sound and we know how well they worked with the Marshalls!!!

Try USA Custom Guitars for your neck..........

I'm gonna get a 1/4-sawn Musikraft with a 2 1/4" heel... their necks are yummy... :D

They don't do 2 & 1/4" neck heel

Oh.

Yeah... I've looked at them a little while ago, because folks said they do great work. I ended up with Musikraft because they have all the right features. The San Dimas headstock looks 'right'. They look slightly different than the Fenders and Musikraft nails it. Oh yeah, their necks are great!

I just ordered a neck and body from them and they were great to work with. I should get it in about 3 weeks.
