I'm going to make the plunge into Charvel land too...

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... AQ:US:1123

showed up while I was out of town - looks great. now I just need to order up a neck! Thinking 1/4 sawn or birdseye (can't decide which, but leaning 1/4 sawn).

That's a Musikraft body. Mine was very well done.

1/4 sawn is very straight and stiff. If you decide to get a 1/4 sawn neck, make sure you get a dual-action truss rod.

I know about the musikraft origin - your last guitar was kinda what kicked me in the ass to do this one. I'm still deciding on finish, leaning towards a brownish stain followed by either tung oil or tru oil.

Thanks for the heads up on dual-action truss rod.

hello from big sandy ya bastage! Nice guit-body! You know my thoughts on the P/U though, I think the Blues hits the output sweet spot...almost 10k resistance, taps really well, and sounds great in full-on series to me. Win-win-sin situation! Why doncha go for a rosewood neck though, as everything else you have is maple?

If you get a swamp ash body, they're pretty enough to just tru-oil straight up. Comes out beautiful.

Yo! Dude! We've been playing IM tag!
The Blues is the current fore-runner actually! Several folks on the SD forum have recommended it.

Dude I love the maple boards with these types of guitars!
I was thinking of building a strat with a rosewood board at some point.

Then that means...you're it, mofo!

I know about your love for the maple neck thing, I'm just giving you crap, but your taste in pickups is immaculate. Just don't forget a push/pull or something to tap it with, double your money! It's a good usable single with some bite to it in the bridge spot! Perhaps not spot on authentic, but it sounds GOOD. Let me know how it works out for you! And because you may have missed it before, my teleberger body:

Yessir! Going to do an SD SM-3 seymourized mini-humbucker, and either a Virtual Vintage Hot T Lead or SD Lil '59. Maybe the Kotzen kick has finally done me in? Anyway, I have a neck coming from Moses, and the bridge assy is enroute also, I'll be putting it together on leave in...feb??? That means you're going to have to see it when I get home. Sara will be deployed by then, so leave is going to be faily sucky, but also I'll have some free time.

Hopefully I'll have my new old Charvel done as well. :D

Nice! Aren't you tired of turning out cool as guitars for cheap though? ;) Not sure if you'll dig the teleberger though, it'll be headless, with a strange bridge...but still pretty much a tele! I know you've had a weird joning for those.

Well... I really like making cheapish guitars that sound and play the way I want them to! Alot of fun!

Man.. I haven't played a Steinberger in like 20 years... :D

Yeah.. .I've been having weird pangs for a tele...

This one will have a crazy carbon graphite neck on it, but I think you'll dig it! The body is ash, with a maple top, so it'll satisfy your bright guitar craving. I think I'm starting to lean towards the lil' 59 for the bridge, but we'll see.

just going by the guy that made the body, who has dealt with moses necks quite a bit, it comes across a lot like ebony...he said its very full, but the higher frequencies project pretty damn well. He also said the sustain compared to a wood neck (at least a steinberger wood neck) is very good, plus they're strong as hell which is a bonus for me travelling with them all the damn time. Moses says something on their site about great even-order harmonics, but its all smoke and mirrors until its in my hands, you know?

That's what I'm hoping for! Hopefully, the feel will be there as well, to compete with your charvels it'll have to be :D However, it almost looks like I pulled it off...a Tele, off the beaten path, with a trem and a bucker in the neck. Sah-weet!
