I've gone through two Zendrive's. Great pedals, but they didn't do it for me. It's a razor sharp tone that is cool for leads, but I prefer a fatter tone. I LOVE the BB Preamp. Great pedal!

Fulldrive 2 for the rare time I want smooth overdrive. I use the Maxon OD-9 for everything else.

That looks like a cool pedal. Is it a transparent type overdrive like the Timmy? What did you like better about it than the Timmy?

Haven't used a Timmy, but I did own an Xotic BB preamp for a bit, it was too compressed for me. I had two Wampler pedals (Pinnacle II and a Plextortion) and recently sold them both.

For hitting an already distorted amp harder I much prefer the Xotic RC Booster. The Boss SD-1 isn't bad either for a cheap pedal, it bites more than the RC Bootster. The RC Booster just gives you more of what you already have, while the SD-1 adds some aggressive cut, nice for soling if you need it.

Have you tried the RC Booster with a dirty amp? ...it's a beautiful thing if you already like your tone as is but just want more gain.
The RC is actually something I could leave on most of time...rolling off the guitar's volume works great with it on.

I had a couple RC's, I never bonder with those either. A little compressed, not too much. I liked that pedal when playing clean but not as much with dirt.

I borrowed an RC Booster and an SD-1 for my gig Saturday night. I liked having the choice of a more transparent boost or a more aggressive mid boost with the two hooked up.
I bet I'd like the new BB with the RC on a board.

But I use Soldanos and we don't sell those. We sell BB and I don't use those. (Though I have and they are great pedals in their own right) Not a sales pitch. Just something cool to check out.

I use it with the XTS boost as well. I found it paired up with my SLO better. Very transparent and gave me more of the amp vibe. Pairing the right pedal to the right amp is more of a factor to me than "which pedal is best discussion". I might not use the same pedals with a Bogner or Marsha. I used the original OCD/SHO in my Bogner days.

Totally agree about pairing the right pedal with the right amp. I got beaten up at TGP for not liking the Timmy into my Fender Bandmaster Reverb. I just found my Maxon OD-9 works better for that amp and for the tone I am looking for. The timmy works much better into my Vox Ac50 than the Maxon OD-9 does.

Yeah I dig this pedal too - I was over at a buddy's house showing him my TS-9 I had just modded and it sounded awesome. He busted this pedal out and I had to go back home and get my soldering iron back out and start looking at the schematic again...

I played this pedal ( the older version will steel casing) over a friends studio through a Stock 78 Marshall and sounded really good. I saw one on Frank Marino's pedalboard few years ago and that guy gets some big tones! I may look into one.

Good lord, this pedal sounds awesome for mid gain with single coils.
