TMS.. Yngwie

You are talking utter shite. Any tool who chastises Yngwie for "playing too many notes" or "having no soul" needs their ears tested. Yngwie's playing - especially his vibrato - is amazingly expressive and soulful. He is certainly no mere shredder.

Comparing him with people like Trower and Ford (both of whom, by the way, are also fantastic) is meaningless as they have completely different styles.

30 minutes of endless harmonic minor and a hint of Phrygian mode and it's all done.

YJM blew his wad years ago. There are so many guitarist playing in their living room that make YJM look like nothing more than mediocre grade B salami meat.

His best material in my opinion was when he was ripping in Alcatraz when Graham Bonnet was at the horn.

tell us how you really feel...

It's amazing how polarizing Yngwies playing continues to be after all these years when he first appeared in Mike Varneys spotlight.

The people who always get angry and make comments in threads like this about Yngwie like "All he plays is just scales" or "weedly weedly weedly" etc. are people who are deep down inside insecure and threatened by their own lack of abilities on the guitar, despite having played for many years.

No different then a guy who see's a fancy sport car pull up and looks over to his girl and says "Those cars are not all that". "Probably is in the shop all the time" "My Chevy Pickup is just as good"

The cut down comments are a jealousy/bruised male ego type thing that someone has something they don't and probably never will have despite a lifetimes work (Fancy sports cars, incredible guitar chops etc)

I don't always like his playing and yeah it can get repetitive, but it's the style he invented. I'd probably rather he do that than try to do his own "The Elder" or "St. Anger" lol. The fact is he forged his own style, his playing is instantly recognizable as him, and he is an absolute master of the guitar. If I ever get a chance to meet him I'll buy the box of donuts myself. ;)

Yup....I dont really care for him....but I dont deny his skills and being true to what he loves.
I do have a few Yngwie Cd's....but can only handle him in small doses.

EVERY guitarist is ripping scales someone made up years ago.

To rip on Yngwie shows the depth of your intelligence. BS comes from the shallow pool.

He is a legend.
BULL SHIT!

YJM is old news. He's nothing more than a backyard high school party player.

You want to hear "Class A" tone and brilliant guitar playing without all the BS repetition listen to this. Never mind the bad audio quality, just (if you can) focus on the brilliance of the great guitar player that he is.

Watch as Robin walks you through the secrets of magnificent technique and absolute beautiful tone. Take particular note at 15:20.

YJM is nothing more than a guitar hamster on a perpetual wheel.

Welcome the master of sheer tonal quality . . . & technique that YJM will never be able to comprehend.

Enjoy!

YJM can play the blues quite well, he cuts it really strict and plays a ferocious blues. I was actually quite surprised to see footage of him one time playing the blues and he was just killing it. Trower is a great player, but I would rather hear Yngwie do the blues, but hey, that's just me.

I'm not a YM fan, however, I can't deny his talent. I enjoyed watching him on TMS ... totally amazing chops.

Yngwie plays the blues about as good as Steve Vai   He uses a few blues scales and repeats over and over. Trower is a true improviser, a seasoned blues/ rock player. Who you like better doesn't matter but when I see people say Yngwie can play blues it's an insult to the genre IMO

YJM is no blues purist by no means but still can rip some mean blues licks....Trowers whole style is built on it. Apples and oranges. I loved YJM when he hit the scene for the first 5-6 years but he didnt take his playing further but hes a legend non the less and will go down in history as a guitarist that was much more influential than Trower whether you like it or not...its fact. Trower on the hand wails and is fantastic at what he does...kick ass blues master with tone for days!!

I read that Angus is experimenting with 9-string guitars and a fanned fret capo?

I just dont see the reasoning for not being able to recognize for what things are...comparing Trower to YJM is just stupid. They are both excellent players and should be respected if you have any musical brain cells   Putting down one player for another because your a fanboy...
