To M4 or MOD 50, that is the question!?

I wanted to ask folks here on Rig-Talk, how does the M4 paired with an RT 2/50 sound compared to a MOD 50 head?

There are/were multiple folks on this board who own/owned both.

I sold my MOD50 but still have the M4. The differences are subtle.

The answer is both!

I actually have an M4 and a Mod50. I am using the Mod50 as power for the M4, and I sounds great. The M4 actually feels like it's a little cleaner, and has more oomph than the Mod50 input, but that could all be in my mind.

I prefer the M4 into my RT2/50. I had it in the Mod50 and the Mod100 and it sounded great but Just prefer the RT2/50.

The M4 into the Mod100 power section for me was the shit,but the M4 is just a great unit and sounds great threw al lot of different power amps.

M4 all the way for me. Get that a great head....and a switcher....use the preamp from both the head and the M4 into an amazing power section like a JCM800.

I like the Mod50...but ultimately my island power section is still the Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555. Hence why I built a modernized clone of one!
