To straplock or not to straplock?

As if on cue for me, my Les Paul slipped out of my Dunlops three times recently. I caught it every time, but I'm not sure what's up with that. I used 2 different straps (have several straps with the locking mechanism on it) and it still slipped.

Now I am paranoid. Will look into what maintenance is recomended (probably WD40) and maybe that "Lock-It" strap posted above.

It has a sense of occasion to it when you hear that click. And life is all about a sense of occasion.

For the love of all things pure... Get some straplocks!

When you say it failed, did the strap button come out out of the guitar or did the locking mechanism on the strap fail?

The locking mechanism failed and it slipped out of the strap button. Maybe I was a little loosey goosey putting the strap on or something or maybe I need some lubrication on the locking mechanism. Once I re-engaged the strap lock, I'll pulled on it really hard and couldn't get it to slip. I just ordered one of those Lock It straps to give it a whirl.

I don't think any system is 100% bullet proof, but I think every guitar needs something.

schallers are probably better, i have dunlops on all my guitars. im too lazy and cheap to change them all out now which is why im keeping the dunlops on

they havent failed on me yet, but a friend of mine had them release on him and his guitar went smashing onto the floor

I got Dunlops, multiple years no issues except i always give them a tug when hooking up and a couple times it wasn't completly locked in, maybe it was the same for you?
I also replace the ball bearing part every couple years for the hell of it.

I'm definitely doing the tug thing from now on. My mechanism must need lube. LOL
