Tobelab LE through a keyboard amp

I keep going back and forth with this. I keep reading the Axe-FX forums say that the $900 and up FRFR speakers are the way to go because the cheaper stuff (and keyboard amps) have a harsh high end thing that can't be dialed out for the gain tones. I did find this to be true with a PODXT but I didn't really spend a lot of time dialing that in.

In theory, shouldn't I be able to put a MXR 10 band EQ that I have between the LE and the amp to dial most of that out?

I go back and forth on this myself. I am getting the BOSS GT-10 and haven't decided on what product to amplify it with....FRFR powered speaker, keyboard amp, combo, etc....However, I did run across this little item that seems to alleviate some of that harshness that some people can't seem to dial out with onboard pre and post eqs.

I'll probably just drag the GT-10 down to GC and try a bunch of things once I get the hang of adjusting the parameters.

I agree the cheaper full range monitors sound cheap.
I think placing a 10 band MXR EQ after the Tonelab LE will work well with good ears dialing it in, because it won't just be some harsh highs with a cheaper keyboard monitor, there will probably be some honking mids and lack of bass as well.

I tried the tonelab LE straight into my mixer and hated it, the highs were mostly the problem.

I think you are on the right track with an EQ after the Tonelab. My buddy uses a POD direct and he runs it through a pretty extensive EQ, can't remember what it is, but I believe it is a parametric rack unit. He said the EQ is imperative for using the POD live going direct....

The Harmonic Converger sounds interesting but not at $250.

I will probably take the same route this weekend and drag the Tonelab and MXR to GC to try some things out. I like the idea of the new Atomic amp coming out that will have a level control for the horn but then I am back to $800.

The parametric EQ is a good idea. I will try this weekend with the MXR and see how it goes. If it doesn't work well then I will see if GC has some kind of parametric EQ sitting around.
