Even if you aren't into the Rockman gear, you might get a kick out of the kinds of sounds he was making with his "Hyperspace pedal":

Thanks for sharing that... thats alot of gear in that room!

that was great. I have a orange lined Les Paul case too, his gold top is a 68 mine is 69

I still have my Rockman X100. I actually had to send it back to Scholz back in the 80's due to a short in a jack. Worked perfectly afterwards....may have been ole Tom that did the repair back then.

I had no idea he actually played that intro keyboard part...wow!!

Very interesting guy and nice player, but his main guitar sound is like something that you'd get from a cheap Zoom pedal!

Awesome vid. Thanks for posting. Doesn't look like Tom runs out and buys the newest amp/pedal/guitar. I love that.

He's a regular Buckarro Bonzai!

I've heard he's done some government work...lol.

He did very well getting his sig sound across on this you tube video. I can hear the stereo FX quite clearly.

Tom Scholz first instrument was piano. My understanding, is that he is as detail oriented about keyboard, as he is on Guitar.

I had kind of forgotten about this. Here's another guitar player that made his own version of the Hyperspace pedal:

He used an Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man, instead of an Echoplex.

That's one talent who was completely snuffed out due to that law suit against CBS Records in 1970's. That band was on such a roll back then. "More than a Feeling" and "Peace of Mind" got as much radio play as "Stairway to Heaven", "Blinded by the Light" and "Slow Ride" back then. He had a great career ahead of him. He made the first design for the VCR.

what is that thingabob behind the nut on his guitar??

I'm curious about that one too.

I've seen players put what looks like foam in front of the nut.
I'm guessing it's to dampen any vibration that might be there.
And I've also seen this type of foam put on the strings behind the saddle between it and the tail piece.
Anyone try any of those things? What were the results?

I loved to play thru his sig rack that the local guitar store had back in the 80's. The Distortion generator was so awesome to me back in the day.

I just picked up one of the Distortion Generators a few months ago. It's simpler than the Sustainor, but the distortion sound is more flexible. They are still awesome ;)

Yeah To me when I played it....just had this 'lush' sound to it. Havent played thru any of the Rockman gear since the late 80's.

 That was the coolest video ever on the planet for a rockman fan!.Homerun rbc! Thats really all I need to complete my rig. Im tellin ya,the release of a hyperspace pedal would turn the effects world upside down.Saw them last year in pitts..Might just have to go see em again this year in july!
