Finally got my GMW neck back, again.....long story for another thread!!!
Anyway, got everything shaved, sanded, shimmed, tweaked and screwed back together and it is at least playable now, so I got a chance to try out the Tone Zone S in the neck position of this hum/single strat body.
I was playing through my home practice amp, 5150 combo, I will give it a whirl through my main rig this weekend.
This is an awesome pickup in the neck position. Lots of output and a little growly full on, but cleans up perfect at about 85-90% on the volume. Very touch sensitive, great expression and response to how hard and how you hit the strings. Sounds great fingerpicking with the tone rolled back slightly. With the coil splitter pulled, almost gets a good "quack" strat sound. A little thin, but not unpleasant, I got the closest to clean strat tones that I ever have with a split humbucker.
Sounds very cool on leads, very sweet and wet with the tone rolled back on the lead channel. Sounds different but blends well with the Tone Zone Humbucker in the bridge.
I really like this pickup, with this guitar I will probably be using the neck pickup much more than I have in the past.
