I bought EZD a few years ago for $29 and just upgraded it to Superior recently for $49 or something.

Where did you get the upgrade? I own Superior 1.x and it's $99 for the EZ 2 upgrade.

Still won't beat superior drummer, skip the EZ lines and go for the good stuff.
I have superior drummer 2.0.....it doesn't do what EZ2 does.

Please elaborate on what EZ2 does that Superior 2 doesn't.

Already figured out how to use it in Garageband and Logic.
Tomorrow it upgrades to 2!

This was my question...I have Superior, is that a worthwhile purchase? Seems interesting.

KAPO: As for the Drum Monkey, the beats are good but the sounds are weak- can you use those beats and transfer into better tones? That would be awesome

Sorry Cranky, I meant these guys: http://www.betamonkeymusic.com/ , my bad!

I watched the Ola vid and it does answer a lot of my questions about the more subtle patterns and hits. The fact that within the beat you can choose to select velocity and diff patterns on ride makes it very very versatile. To be honest, it has me wondering whether or not i bother dropping cash on a XLR drum snake or if i just go this route and edit. The one cool thing about a real kit however, is the feeling of tracking it and working with the audio. For quick productions though, this is a no brainer. Does Superior 2.0 have the same features? Changing patterns of a loop, midi editing etc..?

In the vid he looks for grooves that fit the track; do those others come with this or is he using beats he already had in his comp via other plugins, anyone know?

Looks like it comes with a massive library of grooves/loops. Based on the simple one he puts into the search tool, EZ returns a % closest to his beat. He might have 7 or 30 matches which will all be slight variations of his basic tapped in beat. Because there really are only so many beats we use in rock drumming, the variations can then be added by hand as you let the loop play and you add extra hits. What appears to be even better is that if your timing sucks, you go into the midi afterwards and replace or move the hit to the timing of the rest of the loop. It is honestly going to kill the need for session drummers on a lot of stuff :(

As a Superior 2.0 owner, what I see as being different is:
-Tap and beat proposal from the tool. I.e. write a riff first then find beat instead of the other way around.
-After finding the beat, easy alteration of each kit piece (complexity/which piece is hit/velocity etc...)

It was a sale from ToonTrack about 6 months ago. I will log on to my account and confirm that I paid $49. I could be wrong. But I remember the price was a no-brainer.

Damn, need to get this just for scratch tracks then. Sick of relying on other guys for drums when I know I could write my own. Looks dead simple to use too.

You could probably just use this in place of a drummer period...not just scratch tracks

Here's another tutorial demonstrating the features. I just installed my copy and it's now time to go play.
