Top 5 awesome effects pedal

  • Thread starter Thread starter VoodooChild24
  • Start date Start date
MXR Distortion III
Sonic Research Turbo Tuner
Boss RV-3 Reverb/Delay

That's all I'm going to list ATM. These are the ONLY pedals that have truly changed my life.

Honorable Mention:

Way Huge Fat Sandwich
Boss DD-6

My favourite 5 with my limited pedal experience would be

1. Maxon od 808 (I own the SD-1, will be modding to TS 9 specs soon)
2. Boss DD series. (I won't specify because I haven't played all of them.
3. Morley power wah (I like the look of the tremonti wah
4. MXR 10 band
5. Boss NS-2/ISP Decimator (Because these are essential to me)

This is less my favourite cool pedals, more my essential rig, I wouldn't need the boost or delay though.

BB Preamp

Tube Screamer, be it Maxon or older Ibanez or the MXR Gt-OD

Damage Control Timeline.

Damage Control Glass Nexus

Phase 90.

Haha. This thread was 4 years ago and my taste in pedal totally changed.

Here's my current faves.

1. BB Preamp
2. Lines 6 DL4
3. OCD
4. SD1
5. Keeley Comp

whos bringing back all these old threads? Its almost like the time Velcro-Fly decided to bump every axe-fx thread ever posted on rig talk

Hmm, let's see.

I just got an ISP decimator yesterday, but it's already becoming my favorite "effect" (why did it take me so long to try these? So easy, so effective, so transparent :inlove: )

Eventide pitchfactor. It's insane what this thing can do. I use it for detune, for my delays, as a tuner, to make weird synth noises when I want, as a harmonizer when I feel like being Dave Murray AND Adrian Smith (and sometimes Janick too) and I'm barely scratching the surface of what it's capable of. And it has MIDI capabilities, more pedals need this (But they need to put the MIDI jacks on the top, not the damn side where they require me to keep this pedal four miles to the left of whatever comes before it in the chain so I can plug in the MIDI cable that goes to my amp :gethim: )

Digitech Whammy. I actually prefer the whammy mode on this to the pitchflex on the pitchfactor, it has that great melting computer sound that other pedals are just too well designed to reproduce

Digitech Hardwire Reverb. My favorite pedal reverb. I like it better than most sub $400 rack reverbs too

Hmm, getting tough to pick a fifth. In terms of what I've had the longest it's the Guyatone MD-3, but that's homeless since I got the pitchfactor. My fifth place I guess comes down to a tie between the basic GCB95 crybaby and the Ibanez WD-7. I've gotten more use out of those two pedals than any boutique way I've had, and I got them for a combined price of under 150 bucks. I am pretty eager to try out the new Jerry Cantrell wah though.

TL,DR

I own one of those and have owned another one. The rest are on the GAS list.

  • Malekko Chicklet Reverb
  • Empress PGS Superdelay
  • D*A*M Deluxe Meathead
  • Visual Sound Jekyl and Hyde
  • Diamond Vibrato

I only have 2 pedals that completely are essential to my rig (depending on which one I'm using)

1. Biyang OD-8x - most versatile and best boost pedal I've ever tried - I got 2 of these and they'll have to be pryed from my cold hands when I'm dead.
2. Sansamp GT2 - that thing has been indispencable over the last 15 years for me - direct recording or pa direct it always works great.

Nice

I only have a few right now that I really use and couldn't do without.

1) Modded Morley Bad Horsie (modded to sound like a Maestro Boomerang)
2) Cusack Screamer
3) Boss EQ20

Everything else on my board I want to replace. They work but I would like to change them out.
