I remember a while back there was a thread about who everyone thought were the best rythym guitarists, but lets get genre specific. Who is on your list as the top 5 best/favorite "metal" ryhthym guitarists?

Tony Iommi
Kerry King
Pete/Pat The Absence
Andy LaRocque
Any 1 of dozens can go here.

Subject to change without notice.

1. Scott Ian "Anthrax"
2. Woody Weatherman "C.O.C."
3. Page Hamilton " Helmut"
4. Tommy Victor " Prong"
5. Tim Sult " clutch " I know but there defenatly not pop rock
these are some of my major influences throught my playing.

Edited. I did my list over cuz I forgot some good ones

Dime, of course!
Jerry Cantrell (hey, he's sort of metal so back off :gethim: )
Joel and Adam from KSE
Mustaine
DeGarmo (Queensryche)

Also Devin Townsend should be in there somewhere. This is too hard...

No particular order:

Hetfield - Metallica
Petrucci - Dream Theater
Aldridge - Dio and everywhere else
Youngblood - Kamelot
Lynch - Dokken

Steve Clark
Devin Townsend
Page Hamilton
Matt Talbott
Darrell Abbott

Dime isn't technically a rhythm guitarist but he was/is/always will be one of the best at it.

Hetfield
Mustaine
Eric Peterson
Scott Ian
Piggy

...yeah, I'm stuck in the '80's, although I think Mikael Akerfelt (spelling?) is my most recent fave.

James Hetfield
John Shaffer
Scott Ian
Iommi
Dime

Loads of other great rythm guitarists, but that's my top 5. i

Dave Murray- Because Maiden Rules!
Hetfield- Best Right hand in the Business
Mustaine- Singing & playing complicated Rhythm, effortlessly.
Dimebag- One man rhythm machine.
Fredrik Thordendal- Meshuggah

Jon Schaffer from iced earth (gallops)
Daniel Mongrain from Martyr (those insane riffs + singin' over!)
Jonas Bryssling from Spawn Of Possession
Peter Lake from Theory in practice (colonizing the sun is the greatest "technical" metal album ever)
Obsidian Claw from Keep of Kalessin (insane tremolo workout)

5. Devin townsend(not known for guitar playing, but writes unique killer stuff).
4. Eric Peterson
3. Peter Witchers
2. Criss Oliva(not only could solo, but you know when you hear a sava song).
1. Jon Schaffer(hands down)

Rudolf Schenker!?!?! :gethim: (can't believe no one mentioned him yet)
Malcom Young :gethim: (hard rock I know, but I can't believe no one mentioned him yet)
Jorge Fischer (Accept)
Paul Stanley (and a killer vocalist)
Jaymes Het (of fucking course)
Pete Townsend (I know not metal, I know it's 6, but what a fucking great rhythm player)

Tony
James
Adam
Stephen
Dime

There are a lot of people who could come after Tony and leaving it at 5 is hard to do.

Hetfield
Mustaine
Dime
Lynch
Crosby

I don't know names but out of some modern bands the dudes from KSE & Trivium are pretty kick-ass...

Guss G - Firewind
Dino - Divine Heresy
Dime - Pantera
Kataklysm's guitarist
Dave Sabo - Skid Row
