So Steve got a hold of me and as you would expect, had some very specific ideas of what he wanted. Ground control pro was going on the left side, which is a fairly large MIDI controller in and of itself and also has its own slant so the left side of the pedalboard needed to be flat. He also needed a spot for his wah, tuner, etc. but that side needed a standard pedalboard slant. I of course knew this mean we were looking at two boards in one but I asked Steve to sketch it up for me anyway. Sure enough, two boards in one.
The left side needed to be a solid surface with 18"x16" of flat area so I inserted baltic birch ply into a dado on all four sides so there would be no flex whatsoever. There's a center frame on then on the left side 12"x16" of area for standard pedals. Because the board is 16" deep instead of my standard 12", I used larger 6.5" deep cross members. A Voodoo Pedal Power II will mount underneath the forward cross member. This thing is a beast at 32.5" by 17.75" external dimensions.
It's a good thing it's a deep board too, because it's loaded with IEC power, five 1/4" locking inputs and MIDI, all on the right side.
Finally, Steve wanted flamed Maple said he's on a green kick and wanted a dark, emerald green which was great because I haven't done anything in green yet. I was a little concerned because he said to "make it nice and dark," and sometimes too dark can take away some glow from the Maple, but because I used powdered stain I was able to mix it up just right.
Here are some pics. It ships tomorrow... in a massive box.
