I would say power and tightness? Maybe not such a need for warmth for classic rock and blues?

The speakers are going to have more of an impact on that though. I dunno what speakers most Vader cabs come with, but if I liked those particular speakers, I'd rather have them in something like a Bogner cab.

Well from what ive heard there very high wattage speakers which some refer to as being cold, For styles i mentioned But for the Quick grind and grit of heavey music i'ts essential since a speaker like a greenback wouldnt keep up with a mesa Dual Recto or Bogner Uber pushed almost full. Yes the speakers have a big impact but i will say that the construction of the cab is just as important if not more ive had V30's in all my cabs Orange, Marshall, Mesa And now Port City. The Orange was very dark and tight, Marshall was brittle and thin and had no headroom , Mesa was big sounding but it had a wierd open sound to my ears and just didnt have "it" for me.
The Port City was the perfect combo of the orange and mesa in one it was tight and open at the same time with headroom but with an amazing breakup in the speaker also the fact that it pushes air like no other.
Anyways a great sounding speaker wont make a horribly built cab sound good and vice versa.

Unfortunately, "death metal" and "tone" dont usually end up in the same boat IMO.

Super high gainer(gain pegged)>active pickups>dropped A tuning>vintage 30s.

imho i find that very stereotypical.

granted, this IS a metal forum so we all like our gain

but i have a buddy that is close to being signed where his band plays nothing but metalcore originals. when he tried out my 5150 he liked the gain on about 4.5 which isnt much.

you can have good tone and excellent playing at the same time in that genre. just have to have the ear for it i guess. the time sig's they play in are insane; much respect for anyone that can play it well because i sure cant

to any means great cabinets. the one i tried out mixed well, but in the end i liked the 5150 cabinets more.

What is a Vader cab? I can obviously see it in the photo, but never heard of it.

Steve

excellent cab's for heavy metal/deathcore scene. they are built like tanks and are customizable. also extremely expensive to purchase right out new.

alot of guys use them out here on the east coast for the deathcore/metalcore scene. i remember posting a picture of whitechapel's old setup which was two vader cabinets.

vader or randall would be my choice. extremely awsome.

thanks.......

What makes a cab more suitable for death metal... the logo?

i was just stating a fact about their artist roster. i don't see a lot(any) of guys in rock, blues, pop, etc. using these cabs.

Sorry, I wasnt trying to be annoying or hijack the thread. Congrats on the new cab! I was just sayin MOST metal dudes use certain gear because it looks more metal... Shit, I use a bullet guitar strap.... and I dont even own a gun. ;)
