Trainwreck Express anyone?

I always wanted an EL34 amp, so I built this one. It's all power distortion, and not high gain. No master volume, which means that it needs to be loud as fuck to sound good at all. The sound and feel is looser compared to a modern high gain amp, but it's more revealing because there isn't a truckload of gain under your fingers to carry the notes. 'Cleans up with a roll back but the volume stays the same.

I think I have it dialed in for what it is. Here's a clip that was heavily attenuated with a Rock Crusher. The mp3 converted takes away a bit of bite, but you'll get the idea.

Nice job...the wiring looks great. I love the Express...got to plug into one back in the 90's. I have one on order right now from the "new" Trainwreck.
 
Nice job! I have an EL84 Liverpool clone and have a half built express clone that I never have time to finish up. AWESOME amps!
 
Now all you need is a fuck-ton of black goop and you can have yourself a Dumble!

That's awesome. I've never been close to a real one. Is my clip at all reminiscent of the real thing? I'm running a 4x12 with ET65's though, so it might be a little different.

Right on. I haven't played it at a real volume yet; only thru the Rock Crusher. It might be terrifyingly loud. I put one side of my 90 watt Boogie power amp thru the RC, and the Express is everybit as loud from what I can tell. :scared:
