Transformer isolation

Hi Dave

I see from a few of your posts you are using transformer isolation (thinking of the George Lynch rig and the PoM board). Do you use an active or passive approach for your isolation - I've seen both approaches used - there are schematics on the Jensen website for transformer isolated splitters - the 2 way splitter is passive and the 4 way is active for example. When you are just doing galvinic isolation for a single signal, rather than using it for a splitting function, do you go with an active approach or stay passive? And who's transformers do you use? I know Jensen are regarded as the best but for guitar signals is their performance worth the cash? Are there are decent cheaper ones?

Well never really passive. You need to drive the transformers from a buffered source. But this could be a active pedal or other type things. The transformers I use I could tell you but pm me. As far as the jensens they are good but not that great and especially for the cost. So how I use them depends on the situation.
