Transformer question for Dave.

Hey Dave,
I have an amp based off a 68 plexi.50 watt, mercury transformers, built-in boost. Low end is a little mushier than I remember it being and transformer makes a sound like a cheap am radio speaker. Even with vol all the way down.
Is this a normal condition or sign of a failing transformer? Amp works normally otherwise.

Thats not uncommon. You might need new tubes for the mushiness though.
