A few years ago I remember reading a thread here on Rig-talk about how to fix this. There were some very good ideas that I can't remember.

Thanks in advance.

or foam substance not gushy as in the stuff speakers come in lol

The best way I found is buy some clear tubing, like the kind for fish tank filters. You cut the tube into small strips and push them inside the springs. Works GREAT!!!!!

Petco should carry the tubing, it's usually just small enough so you can shove it inside the springs.

I just wrapped electrical tape around them - worked fine for me!

Small pipe cleaner works well

But I use air tubing from fish tanks

I use the noiseless springs on my PRS and they work great for me.

Yep, gaffer tape works fine and you probably already have some.

I use rubber bands inside the springs...just loop the ends around the hooks.

Everyone has a method that works. I use simple shrink wrap tubing. I don't heat it up alot just very slightly. Works beautifully.

Thanks for the responses. I may try the heat shrink tubing but use it on the inside as I have some pieces small enough to fit inside the spring.

I've used toilet paper. My tech just loves finding that in my trem cavity.

I've used window insulation with the adhesive back side.

I just switched to using clear tubing that you can get from the hardware store. 3/16" IIRC

This ^^

I use gaff tape around the bottom of the springs where they attach to the trem.
Keeps them from loosening or falling off too.

+1

I picked some fish tank tubing from Walmart's pet section after you suggested using it in another thread. It does work great and my springs are dead quiet now. Definitely the cleanest/neatest solution I have tried.

I just use a strip of gray packing foam. Works like a charm!

I bought a roll of heat shrink off amazon for 6 bucks and just used that.

Just curious since I am just starting to play trem equipped guitars, what noise do the springs make and how do i know my springs are affecting the tone/sound?
