let me make sure this point is understood before we go any further.

i don't use trems. period. i enjoy how well the keep the guitar in tune when used correctly but i'm not into trems.

I'm getting a new axe sent to me tomorrow and it's got, simply put a terrible trem on it. Ibanez LO TRS :(

I had one on a Ibanez S470 i bought back in 98 and it sucked beyond belief.

so I was thinking about picking one of these up as a cheap/easy way to make sure that if i drop tune or break a string my incoming axe will stay intune.

and YES i've heard of a tremol-no i just don't want to blow 70 bucks to effectively block a trem.

The Tremol-No allows you to turn a trem into a fixed bridge meaning that double stops will stay in tune because the bridge won't move up or down. The thing you posted is a simple trem block. You still have a functioning trem and double stops won't stay in tune that great. If all you want is a trem block just cut a piece of wood the correct thickness and glue it in there - instant trem block. If you want the trem to function like a fixed bridge, the Tremol-No is a good way to go even if it costs a few bucks...

Some places are charging $20 for the Trem stopper. You can get the tremol-no on ebay for $50 shipped. I just got mine yesterday pretty nice so far.

SAH5150:

i understand what you are saying SAH5150, but i don't have any access to wood working tools and I already have a tremol-no in my jackson...it works great but i feel like I'm kinda overkilling the fact i just don't want it to move down. i honestly don't care about double stop bends that much...

maybe i should just find a lightly used or ebay tremol-no...anyone got one for sale?

Then I think that Floyd block will do the trick and not cost too much...

if the almighty SAH says it will work, I believe it shall work!

And no...no country stuff on my playlist...ever.....EVER. lol

You may want to address that trem before anything else. Those LTs break in all kinds of places. IIRC, the OFR is a drop in replacement for the LoTrs system. I know it is for OFR7s and LoTrs7s.

even if its cheap, why bother buying an OFR if all you really need is a locking nut and locking bridge? It seems to me that even if you have a super cheap shitty floyd, if you block it and don't whammy that it should stay in tune.

because the saddles can crack from over-tightening the studs. im not too familiar with this particular ibanez trem, but the edge /edge pro have a new system that isnt like the OFR's and wont have this problem.

other than that, i do agree with everyone else. dont spend any more money on something that isnt going to benefit you. just get the tremel-no and consider it done

i always look at guitar upgrades and ask "what problem am i solving in doing this" or benefiting from. if spending versus not spending the money in the first place is wise, i ask myself why. if the cons out way the pros or vis-versa then i jump for the more logical reasoning.

Go to Home Depot and buy a pack of wood shims for a couple bucks. You can cut them with a utility knife, then a dab of glue and you're done

...so easy a caveman can do it ;)
