Ok, so here is my new to me Triamp Mk I. After playing both the Mk I & Mk II, I can tell that there is a noticable difference in the tones that these amps can get. Maybe after I get some EL34s in mine, they'll be closer. Even as it is thought, this amp kicks ass! So far, I have dialed in two different clean tones- one for each of my guitars, and they sound stunning! I have never been a big clean guy, but the cleans on this amp are amazing. I've also got channel 3B dialed in as mean as can be. I've heard this channel compaired to the Recto, but I would put it more in line with a SLO100. It definately have that Soldano vibe to it, IMHO. 3A is where I'm really missing the EL34s at. I can get a good crunch out of it, but on the Mk II 3A is high gain british land. Channel 2 is going to be my Mark IV R2 channel... meaning that it's going to take a while to get something dialed in. At the moment, I have some JTM45ish/ AC30 in the verge of explosion, but I think I can get something better with time. I also think that it's time to replace the preamp tubes... at least V1, as I noticed a bit more noise than I think sound be there. All in all, I am extremely happy with this amp so far. Band practice will be where I really put it to the test. But I think it will do just fine.
