Man it sounded/felt amazing thru an Orange 2x12. I had tried it a month or so earlier and TBH I didn't hear a big diff from the 50 I used to own. Lo and behold I just sold my 50 and happened into the LBX on the floor at my local Sam Ass. I was in wicked metal shred heaven.....was it the Orange cab that made all the diff? I have insane GAS for one right now so much fun to play. Is the honeymoon over for anyone on here who has this amp?

Those orange cabs are nice and big sounding so that will certainly help....

+1 !!

I had two PPC212's and still have one. (I totally regret selling the other) To me they sound huge!

What's in the cab? V30s?

The lbx didn't do much for me through my evh 2x12. Then I played it through an old marshal 4x12 with greenbacks. World of difference and liked it a lot

Maybe I should go back there and try it through some other speakers? LOL maybe I need an orange cab?

Exactly. Instead of having multiple amps, I have 2-3 at most but 4-5 cabs, all with different speakers for different results.

I was thinking of getting the LBX. But I've seen several videos demonstrating a bad hissing/noise issue. Does anyone know anything about this?

Its not correctable with preamp tube swaps and or noise gate? Heck my Thrasher can get testy at times depending on the electrical circuitry that is pushing it but my isp kills that off. I have one circuit in my house that is a little noisey. Then again the 50 watt EVH I had was initially more noisey but I corrected that with some quieter tubes .

I do know that high gain amps = noise/hiss. As a 5150-5150 III user I've learned to live and try to ignore it. I keep saying I'm getting the MXR Smartgate. Ten years and I haven't gotten one yet. I hear Ed used one in the loop to tame his old 5150. No proof, but it sounds like a good idea to me.

or a CAA or Bogner or Port City or Friedman….

I don't get much noise from my 50 watt, even on blue with the gain dimed. It's practically dead silent compared to the recto verb I had for a few months. The lbx didn't strike me as noisy, either.

Sure they do. We'll agree to disagree. Of course, I could always shoot a vid of me running that cab, but I'd hate to melt your face, truly. :p

I was concerned about this before I got mine, but haven't found it to be a problem.

Well it probably would melt my face with those paint pealing high end frequencies

Seriously though, you're a badass player and should post some vids

Cab still sucks though ;) :D

I tried one at Atlanta Discount Music a few weeks ago through a Splawn 2x12 with Creambacks and was pretty floored by the sound too! Sounded huge and mean on the red channel.

Yep it does sound so big for a lunchbox.....sounds huge period.

I was at the Roseville, MN GC last week. Was hoping they had a Marshall 2555x reissue but no luck. They did have the silver Jub 412 with an EVH lbx sitting on top so I plugged into that for the hell of it.

Wow, what a little powerhouse! The feel was great. It felt like a much more powerful amp, sort of how the Friedman PT-20 head felt. Monstrous for a little guy. I'm not a fan of the lunchbox amp craze whatsoever but I could see myself getting one of these. I liked the voicing of the blue and red better than the 100w but the cab could've played a big part in that.
