I just bought a used Cameron CCV and last night I tried it at low volume with my G-12 celestions and liked it but was not 100 percent sold it was the sound.
I took it to Guitar Center to their glass room to crank it up and they had a Friedman Cab with 2 greenbacks and 2 vintage 30s and WOW
I was blown away, I was playing it through my Charvel So Cal with a Tone Zone and I went up there thinking I needed to get rid of that pickup
and replace it with the classic Dimarzio Super Distortion that I had back in the 1980s, well it turns out I did not need to do that, it was
the speakers that made the difference. I have a Engl Powerball 2 and It is a great amp in its own right, I just got it and until I played
that CCV today it was the best rock amp I had played. This amp is suppose to be a second generation Brad King amp, I really dig it,
I just do not know how the bias should be set on tubes for this amp if I replace the tubes in the future? If anyone here has some suggestions
and tubes you recommend for this amp, I would love to hear it. I know drama and story behind these amps and I do not want to get into
that side of that discussion because everything that could be said about it already has, I would like to hear from anyone here about the technical side of it
as well as pickups, speakers, pedal and other effects that jive with it and ones that don't. I will say I have never been blown away by a amp sound like that in my life
I just sold a Marshall YJM to fund buying this and I have zero regrets

congrats on your new amp... I have been wanting to try one of these

Told you those greenbacks would sound good with it! Can't wait to hear it on Heritage 30s and compare it to my Aldridge. Congrats, Tom!

Congrats on owning a CCV! The CCV is the only amp that I want right now. Now how about some clips. We can always use more Cameron CCV clips.

You & me both. These amps are consistently great sounding on YouTube - it might have to be my next purchase.

Was this the #1 CCV Brad was advertising recently?

This amp was not advertised. When I was trying to sell my Marshall YJM ( which was a great amp by the way) a couple of weeks ago, I put out that I wanted to trade it for a CCV (towards one because I knew the CCV was more $$) so around the time I found a buyer I had a seller who had owned this amp for a short time and he did not feel it was a good fit for him and offered to sell it to me, I told him I needed a week to get the funds and he held off posting it for sell until I got the money. Brad had a Atomica I believe for sale If I am correct, I have not seen any CCV for sale, I know that it sounds good with greenbacks or vintage 30s, not so good with the G 75 celestions, but in my honest opinion and with this amp and most amps, you do not really know what a rock or metal amp can do until you turn it up, and the power tubes heat up and it starts moving some air with a matching cab, I cannot imagine ever selling this amp, it really is the best rock amp I have ever played. I like the Engl Powerball 2 still and it has the more modern metal thing going but for the 80s metal the CCV is the best I have ever heard or played, but it is mean enough for the most brutal metal as well, or blues, jazz, ( yeah the clean channel is good for that too) . I am not saying there are not other great amps that have a 80s feel because there most certainly are. I have never played a Fortin Cali or a Friedman Steve Stevens and I know those are great as well and I would love to jam on them. One more thing I want to mention about this amp, is that I have NEVER played a amp that screams like this one, the pinch harmonics on it are insane and beyond anything I have ever heard or played. When you bend a note it will scream and turn into some sonic explosion lol, everything cuts with it , and cuts with brutal authority. I would say if you ever have a chance to buy the CCV it is worth it just to find out if it is for you because if you do not want to it is not the end of the world because somebody will buy it from you:D

I us a quad of g12h30 70th anniv. with my ccv and could not be happier!!!

Congrats man, those amps are beastly. If it's the same as the original run, the plate voltage was really high on mine, like in the 520+ VDC range. You have to be kind of selective on what tubes you run. I know the winged =c= can handle the high plate voltage, but they are expensive and out of production as far as I know. The Ruby el34 BHT can also handle the plate volts, and they are a solid tube. I think the jjE34L can handle it, but not sure on that. I've been running my uber twin jet(520+ PV) with Jj 6ca7 for a couple years now, and they've handled the plate voltage, but I couldn't confirm in any literature anywhere that they are spec'd to handle it.

JJ E34L (not the EL34) are good for high voltages. So are the Ruby BHT. And the JJ and Gold Lion KT77.

I retubed mooncobra's CCV with Ruby BHT's. He can comment on their sound.

I've had my buddy's CCV at my house for the last couple of weeks. That amp is a flamethrower with an absolutely ridiculous amount of headroom. You can physically hurt yourself if you're not cautious with the master. Truly an amazing amp and worthy of all of the lore and hype that surrounds it.
