This thing is a beast of an amp! If I had to describe it against my mark III blue stripe, I'd say more refined, modern and less bright for sure. It can nail the old Tallica tone for sure and iI think it records better than the more raw and aggressive blue stripe. Here's some videos

And this is my attempt to come close to the black album tone

First vid is good, second vid even better, then #3 blows the lid off the place. Wow!

Is your favorite a Sneap or a custom IR?
No it's one called "sandman' or sth. Let me know if you want it I can share!

Sounds great dude, especially that Black Album clip. Excellent playing too!

PM sent. Would be cool to try it out with my Mark IVA and Suhr RLIR.

One thing I found interesting when I ran the mark IVA with the Suhr RLIR was that I ended up liking the master volume on about 3, thought I would like it higher, but right there seemed to be the sweet spot to what I wanted.

I have also been finding that the mark IVA and my musket big muff style fuzz are a great match, must be all the mids in the mark IVA. Strangely I have been struggling with the musket into my venerable Marshall silver jubilee.

I've read that the Mark IVA sounds better than the mark IVB! Have you compared these two versions?

I would be curious to know this too. My Mark IV is a IVb.

I have not compared the Mark IVA with the IVB head to head. I played with a guy who had a Mark IVB combo and remember liking the R2 channel better on his than mine. On the mark IVA, I know I like to boost R2 with a tubescreamer or the like. R2 as everyone knows is the weakest channel on the mark IV, thankfully the Lead channel more than makes up for that. R1 is no slouch either.

IVa vs. IVb is really personal preference. I had a IVa and played a IVb. The a is more organic & top end harsh, but not as much as a MkIII, and R2 sucks. The b is a little darker & more compressed (and R2 is usable but not awesome), but not as compressed as a V. The IVa/b split is really where Mark amps took a turn in their nature.

Personally, I prefer the b. ..But I also prefer MkIV mode on my Five 35 to the a I had. And I Prefer my Mark IIs to all of them *except* if I'm specifically going for a Black Album tone.

Sotos you keep dancing with the hot girl's friends. When are you going to get a IIC+?

haha epic comment! I know man right? Lately I've been thinking of selling my mark III + my kramer Pacer Special to either get a mark IV or a mark IIC+... Actually there is a mark IIC 60 watts non eq version for 1700 euros and a mark IIC+ non eq 60 watts for 2300 euros in Italy. These are less desirable for sure, but here in Greece I have never seen one for sale. I think the mark IV, which sounds a bit more compressed -modern- refined and less dark than my blue stripe, would be perfect! Please keep on posting videos!

The people who de-value the 60 watters are the people who have never owned one and spend all their time reading. I have an SR now, and it's arguably the best of the 4 IIC+ I've had. It's at least a tie with my old DRG C++. I know a handful of guys who have the same story. When I sell it it'll probably be the one I regret.

U r probably right!

I have played the A and B side by side and they are slightly different. One isn't better than the other. Mine is a A.

One of my fave amps. Went total Chevelle fanboy when I got one haha! Congrats!

Yep...
Out of the 4 C+ I’ve owned, my first one-SRG-had the best tone. I wouldn’t sell my C+ Coli to get it back though...but it had an amazing tone.
