Hi guys,

I own a Marshall TSL 100 that I want modded. I am not happy with some of the sounds I am getting out of it. I was wondering if any of you have a Voodoo Amp modded TSL 100. Alot of the reviews I have read so far indicate that it would be a good idea to have my amp modded by Voodoo. What do you think?

[ didnt think it did a whole lot on my friends.... i turned mine into a 50 watt and that made it great

also just wanted to say mine sounds best with all knobs on 10

I have one with the deluxe mod, and I thought it improved the amp considerably.

110db,

Tell me how it improved your amp. I am very curious as to how the mods improve the Marshall overall. I am of the opinion that the TSL 100 is one of Marshalls' weaker attempts. I am also convinced that the Voodoo mods will bring it up to speed, so to speak. What is your overall impression of your modded amp? Thanks.

Frank

I can't speak to the TSL specifically, but they modded a DSL 100 for me once. It sounded awesome -- clean and crunch channels just made oh so much better!! <3 Wish i still had that head, actually. I sold it in one of my more retarded moments :doh:

I had a TSL 100 modded this winter. It's my backup amp, but I've been using it alot since my main amp (laney AOR) needs to be sent in for repairs/retube. I like the amp more than when it was stock. Lead has as much gain as the Engl fireball I had, tons of bass on crunch and lead. The tone shift is now usable going from a boosted mids with the switch out to a stock Marshall/darker tone pushed in. I let a guitarist from another band opening for us use it (he ran it on the clean channel with a Boss HM 2) and it sounded really good too. With a ts-9 in front the crunch and lead channels can be brutal. It gives a cool Dokken like tone with my JB equipped guitar. I'd like to upgrade the OT and add a choke and see where that takes it. I did notice a big difference between the =C= and Sino El34 B's I've been running.

To add to what others have posted - We have a Rock Mod and a Metal Mod. The Rock Mod works for blues to hard rock tones. The Metal Mod pickups where the Rock Mod leaves off, so if you are looking for full on Metal Tones then the Metal Mod is the way to go.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask, questions are more than welcome! :)

Thanks for posting;

More gain, quieter (less hiss), tightened and added more low end and just made the amp a lot more muscular sounding.

Trace,

I don't know your definition of rock and metal. I love Eric Johnsons' tone, and Marco Sfoglis' too. I love Steve Morse' tone, Greg Howes', and John Petruccis'. I like George Lynchs' alot too. I realize these tones are all over the place. I'm thinking that the lower gained rock mod could do it all anyway...all I have to do is plug in a good, musical overdrive if I am needing more gain.
I want the platinum mod if it will tighten up some of the low end flubbiness, and give me more vocal, musical, singing lead tone(s). I have a feeling I should be talking to you on the phone. I probably have a lot more questions I can't think of right now. I feel like the TSL 100 has a lot of potential given the right tweaking and tubes. I want it to compliment my Mark 5 in a way that gives me a monstrously wide range of killer tones between them. Anyway, thanks for your input, and thank you all for your input too.
