It seems as though my xxx is fucking up tubes but still not sure whats up. Since i switched out the stock ruby 6l6s to JJ EL34s the fuse blew and then two of the JJs started redplating, got them replaced (from the tube store. com) ended up not liking how they sounded. So I sprung for a quad of winged c 6l6s and all was fine until one day the sound went shit and the fuse blew and after i replaced the fuse one of the tubes had gone microphonic, I switched it out and the amp stopped screaming at me, but the shit sound continued. I could play for a bit and it would sound good but suddenly would sound like shit again. I took the XXX to a peavey tech (listed on their site) and he tested the tubes saying two were shorted and wanted two new ones to continue testing but could see nothing wrong with my amp. When I contacted the tube store they said they wouldnt replace my tubes until i returned the shorted ones saying that they rarely have problems with these tubes blah blah blah. The only ohter factor i can think of is that I bias my amp with a eurotubes bias probe, which is free of shorts (i checked) and ive heard people here say that it uses a resistor in its circuit which it doesnt, as far as i can see it is just a connection point to connect a meter in the circuit for an amperage measurement. Has anyone else had any problems like this? Is there anything else that could be causing all of these tubes to go to shit so quickly, according to the tube store it is peculiar for 3 tubes in the same batch to be fucked in the same amp.
