What are some good online tube stores to buy power tubes and preamp tubes? I was also looking at the EL34 Winged Cs on various sites and was wondering if I would need to buy a burned-in matched quad instead of the regular matched quad? And I know Ruby Tubes renames the Winged Cs with their logo and carries options of early, average, to late breakup/distortion, but what is the best for high gain amps?

Ive always been a fan of Dougs Tubes. Dougs a friend, knowledgeable as hell and has years of great service and reviews.

Thanks!!! I was just browsing his website!!!

What amp are you re-tubing? I have a bunch of high gain amps, and the average breakup is perfect for mine. The last Winged C 34's that I bought, I told Doug (Doug's Tubes) that I wanted some in the high 30's to late 40's. He sent me the perfect matched quad, and they sound fantastic.

One thing that I have learned lately, especially with Winged C's......BUY FROM AN HONEST PERSON! Some places are selling pairs and quads cheap, because they bought a bunch last year when they were cheap ........and they tested them to cull out the bad ones....and now selling them to you! I suggest Valve Queen or Doug's Tubes, as they are completely honest, and will go the "extra mile" to assist you because they want you to be happy, but also to buy from them again!

Laura @ Valvequeen = Awesome to deal with and great pricing
Doug @ Doug's Tubes = Ditto

Valvequeen for me since she is a formite and I know she works with my personnel amp builder which is a plus.

I'd love to use Valvequeen, but Dougs Tubes has never, and I mean never, failed me. Cross country shipping in a couple days, matched tubes, their recommendations have always been spot on as well.

Echo with valve queen and Doug. Been going with Valve Queen lately though since she is on the forum. She burns in the tubes and matches really well.

Yeah, Ive heard nothing but gut good about Laura as well and as a forumite, shes top notch. Since Doug is a friend, I kinda had to mention him first LOL.

That said, you cant go wrong with either one...

Doug is cool as well, done business with him and had zero complaints

Coolio, tell him that Kage said hey...

Laura/ValveQueen here. Nothing but positive experiences & great communication.

I have used Doug's Tubes as well as The TubeStore and have been very happy with both of them. But I'm a huge fan of BNB Tubes on eBay (eBay ID: bnbtubes). They don't have the biggest selection, but they do have the best prices on the inventory they carry.

I am a TubeDepot.com man myself. Amazing service. My second choice is Doug's Tubes. Valve Queen is cool but doesnt have a huge selection.

Just ordered from Doug yesterday. I rarely buy tubes as I have a ton of old glass, but when I do, it is Doug.

TC Tubes. Tyler is the man, but the selection is a bit limited. Didn't get good matching at all from Tube Depot. Tube Store was okay. Eurotubes also has good matching, but they only sell JJs.

I've used Lord Valve (NBS), KCA NOS, and EuroTubes. All have been great to deal with. KCA and Euro have treated me the best and have delivered well-matched tubes. I've used others mentioned here and have periodically received DOA and microphonic tubes on arrival. I understand that it happens sometimes. I'll stick with KCA and Euro or maybe try Valvequeen since I have not purchased from her yet.
