I was not as lucky with KCA. They treated me like crap. Lots of interesting stuff, just not much interest in helping me.

What amp are you re-tubing? I have a bunch of high gain amps, and the average breakup is perfect for mine. The last Winged C 34's that I bought, I told Doug (Doug's Tubes) that I wanted some in the high 30's to late 40's. He sent me the perfect matched quad, and they sound fantastic.

One thing that I have learned lately, especially with Winged C's......BUY FROM AN HONEST PERSON! Some places are selling pairs and quads cheap, because they bought a bunch last year when they were cheap ........and they tested them to cull out the bad ones....and now selling them to you! I suggest Valve Queen or Doug's Tubes, as they are completely honest, and will go the "extra mile" to assist you because they want you to be happy, but also to buy from them again!

Thanks for your advice!!! I was thinking of replacing the ARS JJs in the CCV-100 sometime after I get it (2nd run) based on all of the comments advocating the use of the Winged C 34's over the ARS JJ 34's. I played the CCV-100 at the LA AMP show in October and it sounded great to me. I have no preconceived opinion on of the CCVs since I have never heard any of Mark's older amps/mods live. What I really need to do is stay off of RT!! It can drive a person crazy!!! :loco:

Been buying from Doug's for years, never a problem. Now I just buy power tubes from him. Preamp tubes are all nos from either ebay or tubemonger.

Jon & Crew: thetubestore.com

Top Picks, Top Service, NO let'dows

i have been using valvequeen lately for all of my tubes, and she hasnt let me down yet. great service, and quick shipping

Dougs everytime. There are a lot of good choices though (as is recommend in this thread).

You can try tubesandmore.com, they are local for me and have been very helpful and great to deal with...

I have dealt with Lord Valve in the past but I dont think he is in business any longer. Website is down
To say he is an interesting person is polite, but he does know his sh*t... Does work for Clapton and friends.

Service with a smile from Laura whom I would always trust. She has even turned down a sale or two for not having exactly what match I have wanted. I have always had good results from Tube Depot, Doug's Tubes, The Tube Store, etc.

I like the Tube Depot as they also stock loads of components and amp products. So, I generally throw in a bag of resistors or caps, knobs or something or another that I don't want to get caught without. Fast service too.

As for the OP, those rebranded Ruby SED's aren't the same. Bigger bottle, although they say the same filament. If you test them out in an amp though, the Ruby's don't have the bottom end of an SED. Depends on what you are after.
