JK but honestly all Groove Tubes are worth a damn......

They should be the same as other OEM shit.......

But they aren't and are that much better IME ^_^

I mean sure don't get Groove Tubes then......

Get 12AX7Bs from TubeStore or 12AX7AC5 HG or HG+ from Dougs Tubes or Ruby Tubes Ebay store.......

Get 12AX7Bs from TubeStore or 12AX7AC5 HG or HG+ from Dougs Tubes or Ruby Tubes Ebay store....... br cool yo
nah, get whatever you want and feel like will work, he's just giving you facts about design. Maybe you want the extra grading? I would pay for it.

This whole thread is like a thomann banner for groove tubes.

Use whatever tubes you please and if you want to spend more for groove tubes have at it. Trying to save you money and teach you the ways of getting better tubes yourself using common sense and not deal with fictitious tube lettering for tubes that don’t exist.
It actually ain't coming from Thomann or whatever...

Unless your from Europe.......

You know....... Um maybe stop being so fucking dependent on international shit and pretending emissions don't exist because you practically offshore emissions from Europe to other countries.....

Otherwise it doesn't seem you know anything your talking about.

It's not just the extra grading and BS.....

But yeah.

ok man, I don't know enough about tubes to counter either of you guys, but I know Matt is good people. He's only tried to help people as long as I've known him. :dunno:

Great well...........

I don't know who Matt is.....

All I know is Groove Tubes are the shit....... if you cant afford them get whatever other BS :dunno:

IME they are much better than your run of the mill whatever.....

What is your experience with them? You never answered that or what amps you use.

Otherwise it doesn't seem you know anything your talking about.

We understand that you're excited about your new gear, but maybe before you insult people you should have a bit of actual knowledge/experience to back up your comments. Because you're literally the kid on playground telling the adults about how the world works.

It's not just the extra grading and BS.....

But yeah.

Well, what is it that makes the difference?

Well, what is it that makes the difference?
They sound great...... relative to a bunch of other 12AX7 I've tried and have over the years current production or NOS.......

When it comes to pure gain. Also having 12AX7B.... and like 4 different ones.......

12AX7-C by Groove Tubes....... yeah......

Same on paper as 12AX7B....... but the GrooveTubes 12AX7-C are that much nicer and the grass is that much greener........

That is why I just bought 2 for 80 bucks...... because I have them on hand to compare....... when I could have bought 5-6 + 12AX7B for the same or lower price ^_^

@NowYou'rePlayingWithPower

Honestly can't explain a build/mechanical difference...... I have 4 12AX7B and 2 GT 12AX7-C to compare to.....

As amazing as the 12AX7B sounds..... and they sound great the Groove Tubes 12AX7-C while the same technically on paper sound way way way better and pretty much High Gain Nirvana ^_^

Brand new tubes tested on a Maxipreamp II. First two values gain, next two values transconductance and final two values noise. Rounded. Interpret the data for yourself and compare with other people on ebay or around the net who have results posted ie 12ax7 maxi in search and you can get a good idea what a new 12AX7 of whatever will be like.

Doesn't tell everything about a tube but gives you a lot of great information in 75 seconds versus crawling around behind amps, burning your fingers and spending hours getting nowhere listening to yourself or recording. What do you do when you got 10 of the same tubes of one kind and need to figure out what's the best tube for a position? You can listen and guess all you want but I'd rather measure something in 75 seconds and be accurate and filter with efficiency.

There's so many guys out there with testing equipment in guitar, ham radio, hifi, etc. where I never felt the need to buy any testing equipment yet. Got a few dozens tubes? Go find someone local and get it figured it. Offer some $. Great option if you got some tubes laying around rather than spending thousands on testers.

If you're interested in the Chinese 8th/9th gen, skip the 12ax7Bs and look for the 6N4, which are the military version and will be the best of the best. I've not had 1 go bad, or be microphonic. Great tubes.

I've got one of those gt-12ax7-c tubes lying around. Didn't realize they were any good?? Should I put it in V1? Or somewhere else?

Me neither. Solid tubes.
And, they last a long time.
Like, many, MANY years, except in my Bogner 100B’s for some reason. 🤔

Alright good stuff. Will check these out.

I like in v2. In V1 it's a whole lot of gain so I move em to V2 and put an LPS at the front.
