Suhr Shiba Drive was a disappointment....couldn't get rid of it quick enough.

Anyway, I picked up a ZW overdrive and a MXR classic overdrive for 29 bucks.. will experiment and report back. I do like the SD 1 I have.. its a black label- whatever that means. It sounds good though.
Agreed. I don't get why they're so popular here and on groomed noodlerslespaul6":4t4kfv1v said:yeah, I'm suspicious of the suhr pedals.. just high priced crap.. sorry guys there is something about suhr that just rubs me the wrong way.

I owned an original koko boost and thought it was decent but had other stuff that made it go
And had a suhr modem satin that was also decent but nothing exceptional
I tried many expensive suhrs in the 4-5k range and wasn't anymore impressed with them in neither sound nor playability, especially for the price, but even compared to the modern satin I owned
They always just seemed to me like bland guitars with nice looking tops (depending which one)

I don't remember exactly which ones made the koko go since I've gotten rid of those too. I've gotten rid of almost 50 od/boost pedals over the years, tried countless other and now have 7 keepers from all those. I mostly play metal, but any piece of gear that I find to be top notch for something (even if it's not remotely metal) is a keeper for me, which is partly why I have 7maddnotez":2nea53c6 said:braintheory":2nea53c6 said:Agreed. What pedal made the Koko go and what genre do you play? That pedal is a killer boost, I have the KOT now but cannot bare to sell the Koko. I have not been able to find anything I liked "better" I am using the KOT but it is more different than better (plus that endowment effect mentioned lol)
I have played one Suhr guitar and I thought it was crap. I am not sure what the model was and I am guessing it was set up really poorly but I just did not like it.

I had a Timmy and Savage. I liked the Savage a lot, but my Landgraff Mo-D smoked it for what I liked about it. I felt the Timmy was transparent as others say but didn't really add or take away anything I wanted that I couldn't get with my other pedals. I again thought other pedals were more effective at adding tightness and attack despite it's versatile bass and treble cut controls, and it wasn't particularly great for leads or single note stuff or growl. Something like the Klons or Landgraff Mo-D or Buxom Boost can be very transparent if set up to be, but I feel they're much more effective at adding to or enhancing my existing sound than the Timmy IMO. The Buxom Boost is also the first Friedman product that's been a keeper for me. I eventually sold all the Friedman amps I owned and wasn't too impressed with their other pedals (BE-OD and Motor City Drive)maddnotez":3rlyj82c said:I may have to try the Buxom in that case.
