Does anybody know the actual plate voltage of the TJ? I'm guessing its over 500ma like other Bogners? I emailed Doug @ Doug's Tubes and he had this to say:

What's the plate voltage of the Uber? If it's like the other Bogers and up over 500vdc, you can forget the Gold Lion KT88's, they will never survive.

Go with the Penta Labs KT88SC's which sound better and are less expensive!

I spoke with Charlie at Bogner the other day. He verified with one of the techs the plate voltage is around 530.

Ok thanks. For you guys that have Gold Lions installed, how long have you had them working thus far?

My knee jerk response in reading this thread was 520, so I think we're about right.

As for the longevity of Gold Lions, I dunno man  seems like a number of cats on this forum have 'em and love 'em. I've got a guy in the biz who knows tubes - I'll run this question past him... He'll give me the straight up answer.

Peace,

Kinda OT: (and I kinda asked this before, so please forgive me for being repetative...)

Can you install EL34's in an amp that's running KT88s at 530 V?

I believe there's a thread about a mod that was needed to be undertaken in order to rock EL34's in a KT88 head. Check it...it's a few threads below this one.

Been slamming this amp with a ton of volume and no issues with the Gold Lions ever. Nor in my Elmwood M90 which had similar voltage.

Longevity? Been doing it for months? A year?

My guy at thetubestore.com said he'd not had any clients offer feedback as to Gold Lion KT88's in a high voltage amp head. Only audiophiles for high end stereo amps et al. He said the Gold Lions are rated for 450V typically, but also said that doesn't mean they can't handle 520V+/- :student:

Alright...!! So those are indeed GOLD LION KT88's and you're pounding these well past noon on the MV and into the 3 o'clocks on the volume?? 6 months??

DANG, alright, I'm back in to the notion of GL's for my future re-tube when needed...

The guy I talked to at Bogner said 530 was absolutely no problem. He also said that newer Twin Jets will have higher plate voltage though...
