Two heads one cab?

So I watched this video where this guy was running two heads into one cab.
I didn’t think was safe, but if I’m wrong I will try this.

I just wanted to confirm it is safe first.

I have two Diezel vh4 heads i would like to run into my Mesa 4x12.
The Mesa 4x12 can run in stereo 4 ohms, can I do this safely?

Yes, you can do this. It essentially turns the 4x12 into 2 2x12's.

Two different input sources is the whole point of a stereo cab

I run this way a lot. I run 2 clean amps into a Stereo Splawn 4x12. Output of last pedal in the chain is stereo so one input into each clean amp. Sounds big and fat.

I've been using a Custom Audio Electronics Amp Selector V.1 to do that w/ up to 4 heads through the same cab (one at a time), in a W/D/W rig-- for over 10 years now.

It works GREAT, but is pricey

I use a mesa boogie head track. It allows you to use two heads into one fx loop and one cab. I use a Friedman Smallbox for crunch and high gain, and a Music Man for cleans.

I am curious, why would you want to run 2 of the same heads into a cab?

The two vh4 heads are VERY different.
Both heads at once make the perfect tone.

4 12 inch Mesa speakers at home is much more doable than 8.

Just get a radial engineering head bone. Not terribly expensive.

Why?

because running to different heads gives you the option of running different levels of gain on each which gives you a HUGE tone
