For those that have tried the CAB or Torpedo live etc...

Does the power amp simulator sound real?

Could you say, plug in a Triaxis, use the CAB to introduce a "power tube sound" then use a ligth solid state amp into a cab and sound convincing?

(basically, could it be used along w/ solid state amp to replace a heavy tube rack power amp.)

Good question, I am curious as well, just heard a clip which does that but don't know about live use and getting either Two Notes Cab or the new Amplifire at some point for Recording with Tube Pres.

thing about two notes is you are still relying on the direct signal in front of house
no one seems to be mentioning the fact that you'll still wan t a small cab / power amp for monitoring...for vibe.... juts like kemper / axe fx

For a live situation I would use in ear monitors. No amp, no wedges, quiet stage, should make it easy for the sound guy.

Most non progressive guys will want some stage volume of some sort though

I've used the CAB for that. I didn't find that it did anything that simply turning up the power amp didn't do (In other words, it just added volume when set with only the power amp sim on). It sounded more liken an EQ pedal than anything else when set up that way.
