Hoping to find an "expert" in the field . I was trying my new Marshall 1987x through my cab m into the captor as a load box. I had the amp pretty loud. After a while it sounded thin and farty. I then tried to run it through the attenuator and speaker cab. Still sounds bad. Did I damage the Captor? I tested the resistance per the manual and it reads fine. What else can I test.

If I’m reading this correctly you plugged your amp into the Cab M, and then the Cab M into the Captor?

The Cab M most certainly should be after the Captor/load box.

Does your amp still sound ok through a regular cab?

That’s how I read this….

Yeah I'm pretty sure you ran massive speaker load signal into a cab simulator and THEN into the load box if I'm reading that right

If so you're lucky you just bricked the 2 notes stuff and not your amp

If you ran a load after the Cab M you should be fine- how you had it hooked up is what the manual shows. Without a load you'd likely damage the amp, not the Cab M.

How does the amp sound directly into the cabinet? Do you have another amp to test the Captor with? Basically eliminate one thing at a time until you're sure where the problem is. If you're sure it's the Captor, email Two Notes about it.

I don't agree.. I ran my amp through the CAB M into my Torpedo Reload for the load and it works with zero issues. It is built as a pass through. However, I did have issues with amps farting out or sounding like shit on the attenuator of the Reload if playing too low. Check your captor on it's own at various volumes. But yeah, run it into a regular cab first and work through the chain.
