Hi folks,

I have been reading a lot lately on the Two Notes Torpedo Live and also de Kemper. I would like to find a solution that will help me increase my playing time at home and perhaps the answer lie between these 2 products. I currently own a Friedman BE 100 and the reality for me is that it is just too much amp for playing at home. I certainly would like to maximise the use of my BE 100 and in the regard the two notes perhaps would help me do that. Maybe I could do some recording with the two notes and also play the amp at low volume levels but with a cranked feel. On the other hand, the Kemper my allow me to have access to many amps and effects that I currently don't own, so it would certainly open more playing possibilities for me. The thing is that the Kemper will cost double of what the Two Notes Live will cost, so there is definitely a cost issue to consider.

Anyway, I will appreciate any arguments/opinions for and against these 2 options that I just presented. Thanks in advance for your help.

Buy a Kemper. Profile the Friedman. Sell the Friedman. Put extra cash in the bank. Problem solved.

I was never happy running my Kemper through a guitar cab until they released the new test 2.8 firmware. It is truly amazing now with the right profiles. If your head has a direct out that is tapped after the power amp you have all you need to make a Kemper version of your amp.

Are you happy with the BE-100? I certainly would be as it is a great amp! I have a Kemper and love the unit. I was not a fan previously of running my Kemper into a cab. Most of the profiles sounded very similar, especially with a v30 speaker. Some of that has changed with the latest firmware. As pointed out, you could profile your BE-100 and have a great representation of it, if done correctly.

The Torpedo Live is an awesome solution as well. I had one with my JVM410HJS and it was fantastic for playing at night and going direct FOH for several gigs that I did with it.

Either way, you can't lose. I made my choice based on the fact that I have to use this both at night, in the studio and for various live gigs. I don't have much time to setup and I don't have a strong back to cart everything around. It works nicely for my situation.

You can plug your headphones into it. Or, you can use the output from the Torpedo into your interface which will route to your monitors.

I would go Kemper and an Atomic CLR all the way if you can. You get so much more... For just sitting around low volume playing, it is like playing an unending number of different cool amps as they would sound recorded. Amps are for relatively loud (gig or practice level) live playing with other musicians, IMO...

And I own an amp company...

I second this. You will get the MOST out of a Kemper via any type of FRFR monitor setup be it studio monitors or atomic clr.

A digital device will never be a tube amp... i prefer tube amps. While the kemper and frfr is great, it's digitally flat. I use a two notes device.. it's great and fun, but i'd never record an album with it.

Keep it and buy the Kemper. Try the Kemper for at least 2-3 months before you sell the amp.

I'd stick with the amp and get a Two Notes. If you love your amp you don't need a ton of amp options. Most people dial different amps in to try and get the same tone anyway. You have a lot of options as well with the Two Notes. You can run your amp with a cab and still go direct to FoH, ditch the cab all together, try different speaker IRs, etc.

I use a modeling software live now. But once we start hitting bigger places I will be back to amp/cab/Two-Notes.

I am lucky enough to be at a place in my life where I can own both. They are both great. It is awesome that I can play my tube amp at a cranked volume without blowing my house away. Lots of choices on IRs and EQ within the Two Notes Remote interface. I have had the Kemper for over two years and absolutely love it. It gives me the ability to play lots of killer mic'ed up rigs and take them with me anywhere. Both setups sound killer and I can use them anywhere.

I'm not going to tell you that one is better than the other. They are different but get me where I want to go. If you put a gun to my head and told me to choose I would probably say Kemper. Not because it sounds better but because I could have lots of different types of rigs in a small package. That said, I am glad I have both!!

Based on your responses I think that the Kemper is the way to go.
