So I got my Torpedo Live today, great unit. :)

I had the Reload and liked that as well but ended up swapping it for the Live.

Kind of funny playing the JCM 800 through computer speakers.

Made a quick clip of it, I was monitoring it through the computer speakers at tv volume.

Nice. I've been meaning to record a clip of my Torpedo Live, just been busy/lazy.

What cab and mic model are you using?

Thanks, this is a handy tool imo. :)

I used the "JubilGreen" cab.

This sounds awesome. I have a Kemper and I swear I have trouble getting a great sound like this, just nothing seems to sound right for me. I'm thinking of selling it for the Torpedo as I just stick to a Marshall sound anyway. I tried the Torpedo Wall of Sound plugin and it sounded like crap to me, but the Live seems to just get everything right with the power amp interactivity.

Sounds great man! So what was the reason for switching to the live, and do you like it better?

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. :)

This unit was a just a better fit for me, I wanted the self contained unit with the software loaded in it and not dependent on the WOW plugin in the DAW.

Plus this unit contains more cab models than the WOW plugin you get with the Reload.

I didn't have the power amp simulation option turned on in this clip, by the way. That was turned off, just mic/cab simulation.

I believe the power amp simulation is for running a preamp into the unit and adding some power amp flavor.

I just imported a free Redwirez Marshall 1960A cab with Greenback 25's into the unit, sounds great... :)

can you do a proper one with the VH4 Channel 3? double tracked and hard panned. simple riff is fine. just want to hear if it sounds good.

EDIT: This was real fast and kind of sloppy, channel 3 straight in with the Diezel 4x12 cab selected. :)

You should check your guitar.
I have no problem getting this sound with the kemper.
By the way and perhaps this will help you, i found the i/o of my kemper not much transparent. Sometimes I use another audio interface with the spdif in/out of the kemper.

Quick sloppy play play and it's bright (P94) :

It's andy jcm800 drive, i swapped the cab at the end and test some reverb on it (space and bloc reverb)

Same profile less bright i swapped the cab too and increased the space reverb parameter :

Pitiful play but it will give you an idea. ;)

I guess my point with the Kemper is that you are dependent on other people's profiles, amp settings, cabs, mic's, micing skills etc... (Unless you are experienced enough and have equipment to do a good profile), while the Torpedo, you can use your own amp your own way, and choose which cabinet/mic you want.

You are right.
By the way a lot of people don't try to swap the cab which in my opinion is a mistake.
Each time there is a nice profile, i save the cab.(with the name of the profile)
I have my own cabs coming from my own profiles, it took me times but i'm happy with them.
I think the cab's swap works pretty fine.

You can make new profiles by using vst plugins and add/change later the cab.
Here is the jcm800 from amplitube DI + cab's profile.
