Anyone here try both?
One is much more exspensive!!

Does one make your amp sound better than the other?
Anyone have info on these??

I'd like to do some recordings or even just jam with these

Live model is great for live. Good in the recording world too.
The Studio is just higher fidelity with any more options and stereo capabilities

also, according to the HQ the studio is more refined and sounds better, I have to agree.
Studio is multiple OHM, live is 8 only.
Awesome - I also see where there's more options for IN/OUT and reactive versus resistance loadings... More coin, but hey, get what you pay for, right?

Thanks Reza!!

Do you know if I can use my vh4 stereo head with ether of them?

Studio is crisper and just more lively/open/dynamic. The Live sounds good, too, but the components in the Studio, plus the 4/8/16 ohm options were worth the upgrade. Hope this helps.

Anyone know if I can I transfer my purchased cabs from the live to studio if I upgrade?
I haven't messed with it too much, but I'd think those are stored in my base account and can go unit to unit.

I have the Live. I had one as well when they first came out. It's a solid unit and to be honest with you, I really like it. It fit into my budget. It sounds outstanding both in the studio, when i am playing quietly at night and when running my amp to FOH.

The studio offers quite a few more features and some higher quality convertors in it. I like the fact that you can easily do the 2 cabs with it and the switchable impedence.

I wonder if I could put one half of the Load on a cab and the other half on the torpedo

yes, you can. one side DI through the TL and the other to a cab. just be aware if you mic the other side, that you will have transient time difference creating small phasing issues to time align.

Can't I just leave the master on one side of the head down all the way and crank the other side?

of course. as long as there's a cab or load on that side.

Ok that's what I thought..
How about with an attenuator?

If I put master A through my rivera rock crusher then into one cab, then master b into a second cab.

Would that work? Does that make sense? Lol

Key point. Just have it plugged into a load for the love of all that is Diezel holy :salute:

It's situations such as these that had me trade my S for a standard mono version head. I just found it too cumbersome to give 'er at any given time, always worried about the 2 loads/cabs. That said, loved it with 2 cabs and stereo delay, etc. Sounded so killer. But it was too (two) much LOL.

Some total workarounds though.

Bumping this thread up...

I just did the "nasty" and grabbed a Sweetwater card. They have 36 month 0% financing and am deciding between need vs. want on these units.

Anyone have comparison clips of the Live vs. Studio?

+1 I currently own both. Studio is also stereo and you can use different mics and cabs per side and mix them if you want.

Rez shot a video of himself with the studio and I think he shot one with Steve Stevens as well. There are a TON of videos on youtube.

Yeah I have seen the Steve Stevens one. Was looking to see if there were any vids or audio that shows the same clip from both units as the converters on the Studio are supposed to be better/more robust. I am correct that the Live will still let you use 2 impulses but will NOT split them to stereo out?

I have never seen a comparison of the 2 units against each other. I haven't really done this myself either. I also had never seen a demo of the power amps in the Torpedo but they aren't bad either.

I grabbed the Live as the Studio wasn't in stock. I have 30 days to check it out and see if it will do what I need. If not, I will send it back and grab the Studio. I need to read up on how to get this connected properly. For the Live, are you still able to use WoSIII or do you need to use Torpedo Remote? The manual says WoS is compatible but it's not super clear.
