TwoNotes VB101 is AWESOME

Hi,

I recently got the TwoNotes VB101 ... this thing is absolutely great!
It opens up so many possibilities with my self-made 18w Plexi (TMB). First I was thinking about the Kemper / Axe II - but with the TwoNotes I can use my Plexi in "whisper mode" and still enjoy the great plexi sound :D

I've made an example with my Strat directly into the Plexi - into VB101 - RME Fire400 - IMac.

Cheers

Love that old Blackmore tone you got on this. Sounds almost perfect on those picked notes. What are the pups? I also agree that this VB101 beats using an Axe or similar. Just has that lil something extra because your own amp does the work.

Thanks Kapo!

I'm using Harry Häussl Alnico II Pickups.
Harry is a German builder... his 59 Humbuckers are also great (Nik Huber is using these in his Guitars)

Sounds great man! Looking at the Torpedo Live myself.

Thanks guys :)
Just did a quick take..

I've also compared the VB101 with the Torpedo LIVE ...
... the VB101 is miles ahead (in terms of feel, tone, guitar response..)
Couldn't be happier

Sounds good man. Hopefully the VB-101 is not miles ahead of the Torpedo Live as you say, as I just ordered one

Sorry to say but there's quite a gap to the LIVE
Not to say that it's bad... but the feel of the Amp with the VB101 is somehow better.
At least my Amp responded better :)

Hmm, that's strange because the Live is 'reactive' which is supposed to respond more like a real speaker cabinet, whereas the VB-101 is 'resistive' and contains another level of programming to get it closer to a reactive loadbox.

You are right in terms of specs...
that's why I had both units to test with my Equipment (18w Plexi, Friedman BE 100)

The VB101 worked better for me :-)
You'll have fun with it anyway

I'd just be happy to ditch my cabs and have a good recording solution. I got the live for $845, so couldn't pass it up. I have clients lined up to record guitars/bass, so the Two Notes unit will come in handy. I play a Friedman BE100 as well and forum member hunter's clip sounded incredible with the Live & BE100, so I should be in good shape...

Both units are perfect for recording!
For me the secret lies in the IRs you're using - I didn't use the TwoNotes built in cabs.
I made an IR of my Marshall 4x12 from '68 with a SM57 (using the TwoNotes Capture tool)
Endless possibilities :)

I thought the software on all Two Notes products was exactly the same.

The SW is basically the same - there are a few differences:
in the VB101 you can use 2cabs simultaniously, it has a low-cut, a spatial function, an exciter and compressor.

The real difference is the way the loadbox is working.

Routing options seem pretty killer on the VB as well.

But regardless - safe to say, all TwoNotes stuff is pretty damn awesome.

Really? Well, I guess It is good to hear another perspective on this, so good stuff!

I've tried both and I really prefer my Live. I know there are many other great features on the VB unit but it's pretty hard to tell a lot of difference when in the studio and everything comes together with the mix. Where I was recording in the summer for a contract, they had the VB unit there. I didn't know this and brought my Live with me. They hadn't seen the lighter version yet and were excited to try it to compare. Needless to say, we all liked the tracks done with the live a bit better. Strange but true.

both are stellar units, regardless!

:)

Just goes to show the whole "YMMV" thing holds true.
