U1 FX Rack Recommendations

My G-major 2 decided to die half way through a rehearsal and is spewing all sorts of hieroglyphics all over the display.
It's been unreliable since I bought it, dropping out, MIDI delay, not swapping presets etc

So I'm in the market for a new FX unit. I already have a MIDI Verb but I'm looking for something around the same price as the Gmajor (300$ ish) that can do Delay, Compressor, Reverb, Chorus etc. Stereo is preferred but not essential. Don't mind 80s/90s gear. MIDI patch changing is a must!

What would you recommend?
 
Rocktron Intellifex or Replifex.

The Intellifex has digital delay (including ducking delay), reverb and modulation, but Replifex has 1/4" channel switching, compressor, EQ, tremolo, rotary sim and phaser (in addition to delay/verb/modulation).

Both have a 100% analog path for the dry signal so they don't mess with your tone like TC Electronic stuff.

I'd second either of these!
 
Have you power cycled it? Also, if you're a little savvy, you may try opening up the box and re-seating the ribbon that goes from the board to the screen.
 
Doesn't the G-Major have preset switching delays too? Ditch it...get something better and USA made.

I've drained all the power out of it and re-booted, C-mos reset too. I'll check the ribbon!

It does, like really long delays, so if your tone goes up in volume then smoothed out by the G-major with compression... there is a fraction of a second where the volume shoots up before the compressor switches on to bring it back down...

Looks like I'll be going Rocktron!
 
To my knowledge only the Rocktron Replifex and TC G Major(s) have the channel switching ability. Otherwise, you can add an additional piece of gear, like one of the RJM Amp Gizmo or Mini Amp Gizmo to hand channel switching and other amp functions.
 
Are there any differences with the repliflex? I wasn't sure if a certain year or revision that sounded best
 
How is the Digitech GSP1101 if for effects only? Or what are some other quality multifx. I'm considering going to a small rack for effects only. I like the idea of keeping the rack and cabling at the amp with just one midi cable running to a small controller instead of a mess of cables running out to my feet on stage.

Nope, there's only one version of the Replifex.

All the talk about certain Intellifex versions sounding better than others is way overblown. LTD and XL have extended delay capabilities. The XL also has 20 bit converters instead of 16, plus an EQ like the Replifex. The original blackface ones have a soldered DSP chip, so if that goes your unit is bricked.

I'll third. :rock: I've had mine for 5 years now and its been great. Really transparent IMO. And they are less than your budget. 1-200 usually.
 
Just picked up an Intellifex. :rock: I had an Xpression and a Midi Mate years ago. Wish I could have that back for what I sold it for.

Well the Xpression is Chinese made so probably a bit more unreliable.

What version of Intellifex did you score? I like the Tech21 MIDI Mouse for switching presets.

I got the online version. Midi mouse you can only scroll right? I have about 6-8 presets I jump around to so that might not work. I may end up racking a few pedals also so may need a little more flexibility.
