U1 FX Rack Recommendations

My G-Major 1 started doing the same things, hieroglyphics on powerup, sometimes wouldn't start at all. I took it apart and found a PLCC chip that wasn't seated properly in the socket. I pushed it down and it snapped into place properly and the unit has been working flawlessly ever since, so you might want to try this on yours. Apparently, it is a common problem, here is a link with some pics:

Yeah I had tried that! Same thing kept happening. Found out it was the ribbon cable! Looked at ordering a new one but TC were asking stupid prices so I got a guy to make me one up and it worked perfectly.

I've sold it, couldn't be bothered with the hassle and the totally backwards user interface. I don't have time to press 11 buttons to change the time of my delay haha.
 
Had a replifex....was disappointed in the reverb. If you are set on getting a Rocktron, intellifex or intelliverb are the ones to get IMO.
 
Although not familiar with it myself, a guitarist I was bandmates with used a Lexicon PCM-70 that gave him some of the best delays and reverbs I had ever heard at the time. This was late 90's, but at the time I remember it being top notch. Just checked Reverb and the have a handfull of these, but damn, a little pricey at 700$. I see that Lexicon has other single rack effects units that are both cheaper and more expensive. Just know the one I heard was stereo and sounded 3 friggen D!!!
