Uberkab vs Rectifier Cab

Has anyone done an A/B comparison of an Uberkab vs an oversized Rectifier cab. I recently bought a Twin Jet and when trying the amp out at Rudy's Music I was playing through an Uberkab, which I absolutely loved, but due to being short on funds I could only walk out of the store with the head (which is the best amp Ive ever owned, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has not tried one). I currently own two rectifier cabs and am considering selling one of them to get some cash to put toward an Uberkab and I just wanted to see if anyone out there has done this side by side comparison and has any insight/advice.

did you play the new front-loaded uberkab or an older rear-loaded one?

I played the new Uberkab, and as stated I thought it was awesome but without being truly able to line up the two cabs in the store Im hesitant about dropping over a grand on a new speaker cabinet. My impressions of the Uberkab were that it had a more 3D tone and it sounded a little "meaner" than the rectifier cabinet. The rectifier cabinet has a drier sound sound to my ear, however, I havent played through these cabinets lined up next to one another and Im not sure if the different rooms or my ears were playing any tricks on me.

I haven't played the new front-loaded cab, but I used to own 2 rear-loaded uberkabs that I really liked alot. I really want to try the new front-loaded uberkab. Why don't you just take your mesa cab into the store to do a comparison for yourself. If I was gonna drop $1200 on a cab, that's what I'd do.

Just buy two celestion gt75s and throw em in the mesa with the vintage 30s in an x pattern. Cheapest way to get pretty damn close, not exact but you may find that its enough to be happy.

Was the new Ubercab tight on the bottom end? Cuz 75's ARGHH!!! the flub out at higher volumes and
even worse after break in.

It sounded really tight on the bottom end to me, but I didnt play through the uberkab for more than half hour at the store. In that short amount of time I was pretty impressed with what I heard.

I used to have a couple Mesa Recto cabs and they were a lot darker and smoother than my Uber. This is partially due to them having all v30s and being extremely broken in whereas the Uber is a lot newer and only has two v30s. The Mesa also has more bottom end since it is larger, some attribute this to being looser sounding.

Right now I have one Uber and two ENGL Pros and I have to say that I'm loving the ENGL Pros a lot, and mine even have G12T75s!

Another thing to perhaps think about is the fact that the Bogner cabs are not built quite as ruggedly as the Mesa or ENGL cabs. The tolex isn't quite as nice or thick, the casters are smaller, and they don't have metal or leather corner pieces.

The Mesa Rectifier 4x12 and Engl Pro 4x12 are THE CABS for metal. Either one will ROCK.

My brand new Uberkab is now well broken in with my new TJ... It is one of THE best sounding duets I've had in my studio... I swapped over to the Diezel FL 4x12 loaded with G12K100s and it wasn't as perfectly matched sonically. The Ubercab is thick, syrupy, punchy, amazingly focused bass response, loud as hell, no flubber, and moves air like nobody's business. It gets 3D once I open up the MV past 10 o'clock and my V past noon... Goes beserk!! Tones fly out of it like an explosion. I am 100% completely stoked with my TJ and Uberkab. I cannot imagine another combo that could sound this well suited to one another. The 1st channel higher gain range is SO complimented with the V30's, the 2nd channel hi gain area is buttery smooth with the GT75's (and the V30's). The cab itself doesn't budge - built like a tank, and no buzzing or dropping out in detuned low sets.

Just my 2 cents.

+1!! But my mine's not broken in yet.

Just finished playing the TJ and new Uberkab for 2 hours with drummer.
Holy shizit!! This combination is the perfect match!!! Unbelievable!
I wish i would have listened to Rob( Tone Merchants) in the first place
I wont name the 3 other 4X12's that I tried with the TJ that it
just crushed. The perfect modern cab but still woody, not directional and 3D.
which is a tough feat.
I was standing 8 feet to the side and could hear it without
thinking about it. This was of course at high volumes :D
The front loaded speakers really bring out the beast in the TJ.
I have to say the new Uberkab brings the TJ up more than a few notches.Huge sounding but still tight
and clear with cut.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :rawk:

Ya know, sure, there are cabs out there built with heftier materials, maybe have a bit more attention to detail in their tolex and metal corners, and so forth - but the volume (as in capacity) of the cabinet matched with its X patterned cones is truly awesome. I am not one for matchy matchy when it comes to gear, I seriously try to pair up heads and cabs based on sound alone, but in the case of the TJ and the Uberkab, much to my delight - they work amazingly well in tandem. I found the same thing with my VH4S and the new FL 4x12 by Diezel - thought it was a marketing ploy, but it wasn't...and in swapping the cabs between heads, and test driving them equally as hard, the tone and sound just weren't as good as when the cabs were matched with their respective heads.

It is what it is. Personally, I think the KT88's tear a new ***hole into the sound of aggressive music through the new TJ, and the Uberkab takes it, ramps it up, and explodes it out. it's pretty ridiculous how this thing stomps!
