Mike should hire more people and start fulfilling orders. ?. Maybe lower his price to beat the competition ??

I played my 68 Pedals KoT clone next to a real KoT I borrowed from my friend. There was no real audible difference. However, there was a massive difference in my wallet. The 68 Pedals KoT clone was $125 all in.

Or at least keep PoT in stock. It's Made in China and obviously Chinese factories have no issue keeping up with orders considering how many clones there are lol.

As I understand it, the 68 Pedals is one guy who build them by hand. His quality is top notch.

Mine sounds great, but the foot-switch quality sucks. I prefer a lower-mid sound, so I used the CDHC (with the KOT) to help color the tone. I don't think I've very heard a better mating of two pedals.

Where's the logic in dropping his price, when there's already a waiting list?
Or should Ferrari make its cars available for $30-40k, since Ford/Fiat/Skoda sell theirs around that price too?
:poop:

Btw, depending on WHO you go against, aside from TradeMARK infringement, there's also a thing as Trade DRESS infringement.
If I were to launch a cola-brand with red background and white, swirly letters, that Cease-and-Desist letter from a certain company (that also produces Fanta) is around the corner.
Been there, done that, still got the t-shirt to prove it. (...for those old enough to have been around from the HCFX/DIY forums).

Necrobump just to say this thread prompted me to make an account here. I think my days might be numbered over at TGP for repeatedly lightly ribbing Analogman and the numerous people over there who have their lips firmly attached to his asshole.

Not sure anyone here dislikes Mike or kisses his ass. I have no issue with Mike or the products he makes. I wish stuff was readily available though. I wanted his King of Tone pedal but none were available through him and I wasn’t about to buy one used for 3X the price. I ended up finding one made overseas. Quality is top notch, pedal sounds great and I spent a total of $125 shipped. Got my pedal in 4 days. ? ?

I don’t know a whole lot about him but from what I do know I don’t have any problem with him, by most accounts I’ve read he’s a good dude. The only one of his pedals I’ve had was a mini bi comp and it was loud and disappointing so I just haven’t dabbled since then. Given the typical price and availability it just doesn’t really seem worth the fuss. I’m not guna sit at my computer on Wednesday or whatever just so I can buy basically an expensive tube screamer or something that sounds slightly better if you stick your ear 6 inches away from the speaker.

But I think I did see a comment from him once where he says something like, I want the average player to be able to use my pedals. Well I’m sorry, but if you really wanted that, you would develop awesome pedals that can be made in large quantities and purchased by the average player for not much money. A lot of his stuff is inherently exclusively either because of price or availability, so that rubbed me the wrong way a little. Maybe I misinterpreted who knows.

I can see how it might come off that way but consider that maybe Analogman is just a super tone freak that builds pedals. So he seeks out rare vintage transistors for his fuzzes and creates cool variants of old pedals because he's a tone freak and runs a pedal business. It's all rainbows and high fives until it goes viral and then used prices skyrocket, demand increases and they can't keep up and there's only so many vintage transistors, etc around. So I have no beef with AM, more power to him...but I really do like my All Seeing Eye pedal.

Totally fine with me that he’s a tone freak that likes the way old rare parts sound and doesn’t mind having multi year waiting lists and high prices, but that doesn’t make his statement not hypocritical. He should say, I’m a tone freak and I don’t care that average players can’t access my pedals because making them with rare old parts is more important to me than average players using my pedals. If the guy is such a great pedal maker, which I don’t doubt, and wants average players to have access to them, he can develop them to sound great and be accessible. He chooses not to do what he claims to want, but wants to have his cake and eat it to. “I’m such a great guy who wants to serve the little guy, except what I actually do is the opposite.”

Well, he just did that with MXR so give him a chance...
