David Bray "rework" mod - i seriously cannot believe how that sounds

I love all things I've heard from Bray
my friend had a Bray JTM, but he ended up trading it for a bluesbreaker and the guy removed the mod (criminal! )
from pics, the only difference from stock is a PPIMV and the mid boost cap on V2
he swaps the V1 shared cathode cap as well, but he removed the value
inputs are internally jumped
everything else is bone stock

That sounds great. It's not a tone I'm after, but that has some great dynamics.

I love every Bray clip I hear! I'd love to have a 45 with the rectifier!

Sounds just "okay" to me. I don't care for the bottom end. :)
Agree. I owned 2 of his mods and the bottom is a tad flubby.

I very much like that tone. I played a Bray modded 50 watt Plexi. Smoking Marshall tone!!!!!!!!!

Sounds pretty damn good. I've heard another Bray mod that was mushy sounding, nowhere near as rich as that.

How do you like them compared to Friedman and Cameron?

Bray seems more vintage orientated and looks like it can nail the brown sound better than anyone too!

No comparison IMO. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad but it's not great but to each his own. Here's a clip of a Metro head I sent him.

I've noticed that a lot of his clips seem to feedback very easily.

I had a Bray mod for a little while. It was a cool amp, but the high end has this harshness I couldn't dial out

+1 A TAD

he has enough reverb on that clip

Sounds a little ratty for my taste, even with the effects.

I think the Rockstah clips I've heard do the VH thing a bit better, but I'm no VH expert

Thanks Paul!
I liked that clip! quite a lot... never tried a Marsha either but I think I'd rather get a Friedman than a Bray...

I even told him that it sounded ratty when he sent me a clip of the amp and he said he relistened to the clip and didn't hear what I was talking about. It's obviously the sound he's after.
