So here's my stock 1985 Marshall Amplification JCM 800 2210 spitting out some pretty gnarly metal tones...
this was without a boost of any kind, just guitar into the head.

often under estimated beast of an amp this split channel 800...

Cab: Two notes Audio Engineering Torpedo Live with an IR of my Engl cab, simgle sm57

That's a great circuit. John Norum and Shenker use them for a reason.

I had a 2205. Loved that amp!

Underrated amps. Lots bag on em, but If you grab a late 80s version you can really find a gem.

-Shenker's tone is what I think of every time I see one of these for sale, there not as cheap as they used to be..

Dude that sounded badass to me. SG Guy brought up Schenker, and that's exactly who I think about when I think about high-output ceramic pickups through a JCM 800 unboosted... or at least that's my understanding of how Shenker got hist tone most of the time. I'm a huge Schenker fan, I even have some of his obscure solo stuff. Adventures of the Imagination is my favorite Schenker work. If you haven't heard that album, then you should check it out because that's the tone right there.

Sounds pretty vicious. Good work as usual Lasse.

I had one of these modded by John Wilder, it was pretty bad ass!

It's funny because for me the classic Schenker tones are with UFO which is all JMP's. 2210 and 2205's are alright but I've never played through one that made me go wow.

Good call with Adventures Of The Imagination , killer instrumental album

I used to have an 87 2205, still had the channel bleed issue.
This is what it sounded like with the gain and channel volume about 9 (any higher and it was too harsh).
It has that neat mechanical sounding growl (awww) with a sharper edge than a 2203. Kind of like the tone on Motley Crue Too Young to Fall in Love.

A lot of his tone is in the vibrato and I agree that some of his best tone are these 2205/10's but if I were a guessing man, the early tones were balls out JMP's or plexi's with hot ceramic pups and at times, a treble booster or just that cocked wah. I don't know why but I suspect a treble booster on the early stuff and more wah later on. Either way he sounds awesome on all of it!

For reference, Jim B really tuned me on to that as I think it is also his impression that Schenker rocked a treble boost at some point too!

Great tone!
I wonder when the guys from two notes will implement the 44 kHz on the live. I am disliking more and more the live because it does not have that sample rate. There's a lot of folks complaining but the two note guys don't want to listen

Sounds great but most modern metal bands are afraid to play with that little gain. Has a nice throat to it.

Sounds great! I too think of later Schenker whenever I read something about this model.
