1# Marshall Vintage Modern. Appearently I think this amp is better than most guitar players I run into.

2# Laney VH100R. Killer amp with tons of versatility.

Boosted

3) Peavey Bravo - the sickest, heaviest sounding amplifier i have ever heard in my life. solid state or tubed the damn things gets down to business - dime's new amplifier doesnt hold a candle to it!

+1 on the .50 Caliber, particularly the EL84 model
Laney AOR100
Marshall 3203/4203

Ampeg VH140C
+100 on this.....

had one at my Ampfest I had this summer that Headlessdeadguy brang over...
BRUTAL amp!
I been on the look for one since!

Laney GH-100L... It doesn't have the clean channel of the VH mentioned above, but with
a bit lower voltage on the pre-amp it's browner and dirtier.
One coupling cap change on either _really_ wakes them up! Nice amps.

Are the vh140c and ultra really underrated? Every time they get mentioned they get much love. Or do we mean underrated globally, not just among guitar guys?

I never heard one (VH140C) until this year.....
but after hearing how bad ass it is....opened my eyes and saw that quite a few guys were into them.

I used to a gig a VH140C when they first came out. This is like in 1992.

+10000 I love these power amps with my mesa 50 calibers slave out to be stereo and with my peavey rockmaster Preamp.

I would actually say that the Ampeg VH140C is overrated among gearheads and especially death metal fans, IMO. It's definitely an awesome amp and I'm currently head over heels about mine, but there are better amps out there for brutality, although much more expensive. It gets so much talk though, and some people seem to consider it the holy grail of death metal amps, but it's really not, although the it beats almost anything until you start getting into amplifiers that cost about 5+ times more
