CBS issued a statement about this episode.

Dear Undercover Boss Viewers,

The conclusion of tonight’s Peavey episode is unexpected, and we wanted to share some background perspective. Since the premiere of Undercover Boss in 2010, we’ve set out to portray the inner workings of companies through the eyes and voices of undercover bosses and frontline employees. We do not endorse the companies or featured bosses as models to follow. By simply presenting the story as it unfolds, we leave the audience to form their own opinions and play "Armchair CEO” while watching the show. Most of the stories we’re lucky enough to tell on the series are inspirational, and many times conclude with the boss offering life-changing rewards for the hardworking frontline employees. Sometimes stories don’t end so perfectly, and we present those to the audience as well. In the case of Peavey, something unfortunate happened after we completed filming, which changed Thresa and Michael’s stories in a significant way…and we don’t believe the episode would have been accurate without this updated information. Thank you as always for being loyal viewers and fans.

Best regards,

Stephen Lambert, Creator/Executive Producer, UNDERCOVER BOSS

What was the unfortunate thing that occurred?

One of the employees the COO shadowed informed him that he had put his 2 weeks notice in because he had accepted another, better paying, job. COO talked him into staying and promised over $10,000 of assistance for college for the guys kids and some other stuff. Then the guy ended up being laid off, and Peavey has yet to make good on the promises they made to him with regards to the financial assistance.

Another employee they shadowed as also promised a bunch of stuff (help with money to go back to school, money to pay off current school loans, and a paid vacation up to 10,000). She was also laid off shortly after the show was filmed, and Peavey has still not fulfilled those promises.

Peavey is moving most of their production to China, and shut down the factories they showed on the program.
Wow, that is absolutely beyond shitty.

That Dweezil clip was hillarious!
Still hard to watch Peavey throw their employees under the bus after all those years of loyalty.
But I guess business is business..... :aww:

just watched it ...man that Hartley is a pos...what a jack ass...the kid isnt much better too stupid to have a clue....piss off peavey the reason I continued buying your stuff was because its made in USA...its unfortunate that americans wont work for 27 cents a hour like they do in China....kiss all factorys good bye!

Haven't watched this one, and I'm not saying that the accusations aren't true...however, I will say that undercover boss is a crock of shit, like all "reality" shows. I've seen two episodes featuring companies that I've worked for and it wasn't accurate at all. They clearly try to create drama and selectively edited stuff, ect. Not to mention, where are all of the assholes? lol 90% of the people they end up working with are saints with some heart warming sob story. Doesn't seem to work out like that in real life

Say, what?

You have to watch it. HP had a chance to look like a Saint- that's what every episode does for corporations- but instead looks like the complete opposite. That's not an editing trick, that's a guy who is very unlikable...and stupid, this show is a total publicity stunt and he turned it upside down on himself

I'm not saying the show created this. I'm just saying that, either way, the show is bullshit

The fact that it's being filmed makes it difficult to believe otherwise.

Hartley looked out of touch with his own company... The guy who went undercover looked like a total tool and almost seemed like he was ready to gag when offering to help those employees out at the end. Kind of a sad outlook on what was once a really good company...

The end is wtf
These corporate scrooges are sickening; I now have serious consideration to sell off my Peavey gear

I knew the first time I set my eyes on one of these many decades ago that I would never buy a Peavey.....

Glad to see my position has been validated - by none other than the company itself.

I refuse to buy an amp because I don't like the way it looks. I do not care how it sounds.

Reality tv has validated this for me.

Ugly men making ugly decisions I'm sure HP has many nice American made toys in his collection.
