You da man, JBT! THANK YOU! Enjoy that pickup, brother. It was sitting on my shelf doing nothing and I'd much rather you get some use out of it.
The "few things JBT was never gonna use" are 4 vintage Japanese humbuckers! He sent me 2 Yamaha G-II pickups from a Yamaha SG700 guitar made in the 70's and 2 Maxons from a 1984 Greco Les Paul Custom. (Maxon also made the Ibanez Super 70 and Super 80 pickups for Ibanez) The Maxons that JBT sent me read around 18.9K Ohms! I thought that reading was crazy, so I put a new 9 volt battery in my multi-meter and cleaned the test leads and checked again. Yep, 18.9K! I know that Ohm readings don't always equal output, but the bobbins are wound full and the magnets are strong, so I'm betting these are wicked high output. I think I'm gonna put the Yamaha pickups in my Ibanez AS-73...I was gonna use more modern sounding pickups in that guitar, but I changed my mind after watching a few videos of the 70's SG700's with stock pickups.
You meet some really cool people here. JBT and VonBonfire have become good friends. They are stand up dudes!
