What gives with used prices on Diezels falling so fast lately? I've held off on buying them soley on price reasons, but recently I've picked up a Herbert and a VH4 both for under $2900. Is it the economy or has the Diezel novelty wore off?

just like everything else, bunch of guys bought them, now are liquidating to get to the next cool thing

You selling the Herbert or VH4?

Neither. Had the Herbie for sale in my sig but changed my mind. Never had it up in a formal ad. Gonna spend some more time with it. That voice in my head tells me its stoooopid to have a SE and a Herbert. Too much tonal overlap IMO.

:confused:

I cannot confirm the tonal overlap and the decreasing prices.
Maybe I´m far away here in Bavaria ;)

Hi Peter, sorry if this is a touchy subject but I've been truly amazed at some of the prices Diezels have been going for around here. Just this week I picked up a mint 2008 VH4 for $2650 shipped and a 2006 VH4 went for $2500 shipped. That's around a $500-$600 drop in just a few months.

I did a comparision thread not too long ago...

Please no concerns, I´m not touchy.

Just have an other experience here in Europe
and over in Asia. The prices on German Ebay
are expensive.

Cheers,
Peter

I definitely have no international experience (I'm in the USA). I was only referring to RIG-TALK classifieds.

Simple....Dump the ENGL before it breaks down. ;)

As for pricing. Our failure of government will continue to devalue the dollar - so at least inflation will bring it back to normal.

I've thought about selling the SE but I can get more $$$$$$ for the Herbert. Since I'm a bedroom wannabe and don't tour I'm thinking my ENGL will hold up...The Diezels are built waaaaaaaay better for sure. :thumbsup:

^as Tom/Les Zombie about how well his SE held up under the rigors of home use. :lol: :LOL:

Its not just Diezels, just all amps in general...

Soldano SLO $3800 list price you can buy it for 2300 give or take
Bogner Ecstasy $3400 --> 2100
Suhr PT-100 $ 3300 ---> 2200
Fortin Bones seen them as low as 2K in the classifieds and those are really more expensive...

List goes on and on... Most amps lose as much as 40% value... at least the ones I mentioned

Neh, peeps just want the new Diezel preamp and want to get rid of their amps fast :lol: :LOL: for the new purchase

I just think it's a matter of supply and demand... lots of people are selling them at the same time in the USA lately it seems, so they're getting cheap there. In Europe there's no difference in price whatsoever.

I agree, it's just that Diezels always held their value better than other amps. Now, not so much...

I don't think these prices are low in any way. Buy a new car you drive off the dealer site and already lost 30%, that's the way it is. Buying new you also buy support and warranty.

However, I have bought a Triamp MkII for 1100,-€ , and that amp is also new 2750,-
Now _that is a significant value decrease.

yup my engl SE didnt hold up very well and never left my home,i bought it new after 18 months it broke down and was a pain in the ass to get fixed and dealing with velvet distribution was frustraiting for me and the dealer, i had to pay for the repairs myself. then after a month of normal usage i decided to trade it and the next guy had it for a few weeks and didnt like it and sold it to a guy i know and it broke down yet again and he ended up selling it to guitar center just to get rid of it.

I guess I am a lucky Engl owner because I have never had any problems with my Engl's while in my possession. My current Engl is the SE and it has been fine so far (of course I have not had it long). I bought it from Erock and I think he had it for a while with no issues that I know of. The head has been gigged once....................so far. :lol: :LOL: Only time will tell, I guess. It gets spanked at band volume 3-5 times a week. :rock: The one thing I can say, and know for sure, is the Diezel has a far superior build quality than the Engl. :thumbsup:

I own the Herbert and SE. The tonal qualities do not overlap in my opinion, they are different beasts to me. Maybe it has to do with the way I dial in an amp, who knows. Both amps cover a broad range of tones and each one has it's place in my arsenal. :rock:
