The SLO100 loop is +4 DB which I think is Line Level, so would it sound bad if I ran pedals into it? Like a Deluxe Memory Man or any analog delay?

Im guessing the loop level is gonna be too hot for the inputs of those pedals.. as they work best on -10db (instrument level)

Yeah, is there anyway to get around this?

Pedal effects wont work right in the SLO loop. the sound changes in a very detrimental way.
The Ebtech converter works somewhat, but there was still a drop.
The T-Rex Replica delay worked great in the SLO loop, as its +4 capable

Still the position of the loop in the circuitry sucks big way.

Because you don't have a "send level" (which in modern amps is the "channel volume"), just a return level (the masters).loudgtr":ege516r4 said:duesentrieb":ege516r4 said:Yup. Easy fix. 1x1µF and 1x2k2 resistor to drop that down to 0dB.

I'm no expert by any means, but "sucks" sounds a bit harsh. I tried a Boss DD20 in the loop on a Hot Rod 100+ once by the recommendation of a buddy who uses one in his SLO's loop (with no problems he said) and it worked perfectly. Looking forward to buying/using one in my new SLO.
Cheers.
Everything well here, Keith. Kids growing fast, you know . . .SQUAREHEAD":tf6j2wet said:duesentrieb":tf6j2wet said:Hi Keith![]()
Hey Olaf!
Why....WHY did Mike design the SLO this way?
Hope you're doing awesome, Bro!!

Yes, and the very first SLOs had no loop at all. Was demanded by customers who probably just used the lead at that time . . .stratotone":15zjn8hl said:Remember too that the SLO is what - a 20-something year old design?

So with two different settings - lets say clean and lead - you get a huge difference in send levels for the "pedal" - which "sucks". Placing the loop after the masters (then they would act as send levels) and either adding a "global" master after it or using a pedal or 19" with a good "out" level balance, would be a better idea.
When you are using it for just one sound (or the levels of the channels are equal) then it doesn't matter.
btw: the Decatone was built like that![]()
(I'm not saying its better than the SLO, which I love soundwise, just . . .well . . . you know)
